ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի վարչակազմը գաղտնաբար կազմակերպել Է 400 միլիոն դոլար կանխիկ գումարի առաքումը Թեհրան, ընդ որում դա համընկել Է հունվարին Իրանում ձերբակալված չորս ամերիկացիների ազատման հետ: Այս մասին գրել Է The Wall Street Journal թերթը՝ վկայակոչելով ամերիկացի եւ եվրոպացի պաշտոնյաների:
Աղբյուրները պնդում են, որ Իրան են հասցվել եվրոներ, շվեյցարական ֆրանկներ եւ այլ արժույթներ, բայց ոչ ամերիկյան դոլարներ, քանի որ դա օրենքով արգելված Է: Թղթադրամները գնվել են Նիդեռլանդների եւ Շվեյցարիայի բանկերում:
Այդ գումարն առաջին վճարն Էր տակավին Մոհամեդ Ռըզա Փեհլեւի շահի կողմից կնքված զենքի գործարքի շուրջ 1,7 միլիարդ դոլարի վաղեմի վեճի կարգավորման շրջանակներում: Իրանցիները պահանջում Էին վերադարձնել 400 միլիոն դոլարը, որը միապետի վարչակարգը մուծել Էր Պենտագոնի հատուկ հիմնադրամին՝ ամերիկյան կործանիչներ գնելու համար, ինչպես նաեւ կուտակված տոկոսները: Նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման արտոնել Էր վեճի գումարի բազային մասի վճարումը:
