Մարդիկ միմյանց հանդիպելու հենց առաջին վայրկյաններից դատողություններ են անում միմյանց մասին: Հարվարդի համալսարանի պրոֆեսորներ Էմի Քադդին, Սյուզան Ֆիսկը և Փիթեր Գլիքը մոտ 15 տարի ուսումնասիրել են մարդկանց թողած առաջին տպավորությունները և պարզել են մի քանի բան:

Երբ մարդիկ առաջին անգամ հանդիպում են միմյանց, նրանք իրենք իրենց երկու հարց են տալիս.

  • Կարո՞ղ եմ հարգել այս մարդուն:

 

Ինչպես ուսումնասիրությունը պարզել է՝ մարդկանց մեծամասնությունը, հատկապես մասնագիտական շրջապատից, ավելի շատ կարևորություն են տալիս մարդու ունակություններին: Սա իհարկե սպասելի էր, որովհետև մարդիկ ցանկանում են ապացուցել, որ նրանք բավական խելացի և տաղանդավոր են այդ աշխատանքն անելու համար: Սակայն իրականում այնպիսի գծեր, ինչպիսիք են կարեկցանքը և վստահելիությունը, հիմնական արժեքներն են, որով մարդիկ ձեզ գնահատում են:

Քադդին ասում է. «Էվոլյուցիոն տեսակետից գոյատևման համար ավելի կարևոր է իմանալ, թե արդյոք այդ մարդը վստահության արժանի է, թե ոչ:» Հին ժամանակներում ավելի կարևոր էր իմանալ, թե արդյոք այդ մարդը ցանկանում է ձեզ սպանել և թալանել ձեզ, թե նա արժանի է ձեզ հետ խարույկ վառել և մնալ ձեզ հետ:

Սակայն Քադդին չի բացառում նաև փորձ և գիտելիքներ ունենալու կարևորությունը: Ըստ պրոֆեսորի՝ այդ հատկություները գնահատվում են միայն այն ժամանկ, երբ արդեն ձեռք է բերվում վստահությունը: Իսկ միայն ձեր ինտելեկտը և ուժը ցուցադրելը կարող է բերել անցանկալի արդյունքների:

Հետևաբար, նախ և առաջ պետք է ձեռք բերել ձեր դիմացինի վստահությունը և հետո միայն տպավորել նրանց ձեր ունակություններով:
