ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանն օգոստոսի 9-ին ընդունել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում Քուվեյթի Պետության արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Բասսամ Մուհամմադ ալ Քաբանդիին, ով ավարտում է իր դիվանագիտական առաքելությունը մեր երկրում:
Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության եւ տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, հանրապետության Նախագահը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել դեսպան ալ Քաբանդիին՝ դիվանագիտական առաքելության ընթացքում կատարած աշխատանքի համար և բարձր գնահատել ավելի քան չորս տարիների ընթացքում երկկողմ կապերի զարգացմանը միտված դեսպանի հետևողական ջանքերը, ինչի շնորհիվ հայ-քուվեյթյան երկկողմ հարաբերությունները բարձրացվել են որակապես նոր մակարդակի: Նախագահը հույս է հայտնել, որ մեր երկրում Քուվեյթի հաջորդ դեսպանը նույն նվիրումով ու եռանդով կաշխատի երկու բարեկամ երկրների հարաբերություններն ընդլայնելու և խորացնելու ուղղությամբ: Սերժ Սարգսյանը հաջողություններ է մաղթել Բասսամ Մուհամմադ ալ Քաբանդիին իր հետագա գործունեության մեջ և հավաստիացրել, որ նա միշտ կմնա Հայաստանի բարեկամը:
Դեսպան ալ Քաբանդին շնորհակալություն է հայտնել ՀՀ Նախագահին՝ հյուրընկալության, ինչպես նաև իր գործունեությունը բարձր գնահատականի արժանացնելու համար: Նա նշել է, որ մեր երկրների միջև երկկողմ հարաբերություններում հաջողությունների արձանագրումը հնարավոր չէր լինի առանց ՀՀ Նախագահի, ՀՀ կառավարության և իր մյուս գործընկերների աջակցության: Դեսպանը նաև ասել է, որ Հայաստանում իր պաշտոնավարման ժամանակահատվածում նա շատ բան է սովորել հայ ժողովրդից:
Հանդիպման ընթացքում շեշտվել է Հայաստանի և Քուվեյթի միջև առևտրատնտեսական հարաբերությունների կարևորությունը և դրանց հետագա զարգացման հնարավորությունները:
