Թուրքիայի նախագահ Թայիփ Էրդողանը Սանկտ Պետերբուրգ կատարած այցի ժամանակ «բացահայտորեն փնտրում Էր Ռուսաստանի բարեհաճությունը»: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, օգոստոսի 9-ին գրել Է Washington Post թերթը՝ ամփոփելով ՌԴ-ի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի եւ Թուրքիայի ղեկավարի բանակցությունների արդյունքները:
Հրատարակությունը նշում Է, որ սույն արտասահմանյան շրջագայությունը Էրդողանի համար առաջինն Է դարձել հուլիսին տեղի ունեցած հեղաշրջման ձախողված փորձից հետո: Ամերիկացի լրագրողների կարծիքով՝ Թուքիայի նախագահը «բացահայտորեն փնտրում Էր Ռուսաստանի բարեհաճությունը»: Դրանում լրագրողները տեսել են «ցայտուն հակադրություն Մոսկվայի նկատմամբ այն թշնամական գործողությունների հետ», որոնք տեղի Էին ունենում ոչ վաղ անցյալում:
Թերթն ընթերցողների ուշադրությունն Է հրավիրում այն հանգամանքի վրա, որ Էրդողանը Պուտինին անվանել Է «իմ թանկագին բարեկամ», ինչպես նաեւ «բազմիցս շնորհակալություն Է հայտնել նրան հեղաշրջման փորձից հետո արագ օգնություն տրամադրելու համար»: Բացի դրանից, ինչպես նշել Է հրատարակությունը, Թուրքիայի ղեկավարը խոսել Է այն մասին, որ «երկու երկրների միջեւ հարաբերությունները կվերադառնան մինչճգնաժամային կամ նույնիսկ ավելի բարձր մակարդակ»:
Միեւնույն ժամանակ Washington Post-ը «հավանական» Է համարում, «որ բանակցությունները կհանգեցնեն Արեւմուտքում Թուրքայի քաղաքական ուղեգծի հետ կապված մտահոգությունների աճի, որտեղ հեղաշրջման փորձի ալիքին ավելի ու ավելի շատ են գործադրվում անձնիշխանական մեթոդներ», հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
