Լրատվամիջոցների կողմից հարապարակված  Չիկագոյի Իլինոիս նահանգում տեղի ունեցած Lollapalooza երաժշտական մրցանակաբաշխությունից տեսանյութում երեւում է, թե ինչպես է  ԱՄՆ նախագահի դուստրը մարիխուանա ծխում։

Նյու Յորքի քաղաքապետի դուստր Կյարան 2013թ. խոստովանել է, որ դեպրեսիան փորձել է հաղթահարել թմրանյութերով։ Youtube-ում տեղադրած իր տեսանյութում նա պատմել է, որ հասունացման տարիքում վատ տրամադրությունը հաղթահարել է թմրանյութերով եւ ալկոհոլով։ Այդ իրավիճակից նա կարողացել է դուրս գալ բժիշկների միջամտությամբ, ինչպես նաեւ ներգրավվելով հոր նախընտիական արշավի մեջ։

ԱՄՆ փոխնախագահ Ջոզեֆ Բայդենի դուստրն ու որդին եւս թմրանյութեր են օգտագործել։ 2009թ. New York Post-ի խմբագրություն է դիմել մի ամերիկացի, ով առաջարկել է երկու մլն դոլարով գնել Բայդենի կրտսեր դստեր մասնակցությամբ տեսանյութ, որում նա սպիտակ գույնի փոշի, ենթադրաբար կոկաին է օգտագործում։ Հինգ տարի անց պարզվեց, որ կոկաինի սիրահար է նաեւ Բայդենի որդին։
