Մուդրաներն օգտագործվում են շատ վաղուց: Այդ գիտելիքները մինչ օրս օգնում են հանել լարվածությունը կարևոր և պատասխանատու իրադարձություններից առաջ, հանգստանալ ծանր օրվանից հետո և լիցքավորվել դրական էներգիայով: 
Մատների նշանակությունը մուդրաներում
Յուրաքանչյուր մատի հետ կապված է որոշակի տարերք: Դրանք հինգն են: Հայտնի Կրակից, Հողից, Օդից և Ջրից բացի՝ հնդիկ իմաստուններն ավելացրել են հինգերորդը՝ Մետաղը:
Բութ – որպես ամենամեծը, կապվում է ամենահիմնական չակրայի հետ, որը զետեղված է սեռական օրգանների շրջանում: Այդ մատի վերին մատնահատվածը պատասխանատու է գլխուղեղի աշխատանքի համար, իսկ ներքինը՝ լյարդի նորմալ աշխատանքի համար: Այս մատին համապատասխանում է Օդի տարերքը:
Ցուցամատ – կապված է Կրակի հետ: Դրան համապատասխանում է հինգերորդ չակրան (զետեղված է կոկորդի շրջանում): Այդ մատի խթանումը կարող է բարելավել սրտի և աղիների աշխատանքը, ինչպես նաև խթանել գլխուղեղի աշխատանքը: Այն կապված է նյարդային համակարգի, ստամոքսի և ողնաշարի հետ:
Միջնամատ – նույնպես կապված է մարսողական օրգանների աշխատանքի հետ, բայց ազդում է նաև արյունատար համակարգի վրա: Այդ մատի մերսումը կարող է իջեցնել օրգանիզմի ալերգիկ ռեակցիաները, ազատվել որոշ հոգեբանական պրոբլեմներից: Այն կապում են Հողի տարերքի և Մանիպուրաչակրայի հետ (զետեղված է արևահյուսակի շրջանում):
