Մյանմայի իշխանությունները բանակային զորամասեր ու ոստիկանության ստորաբաժանումներ են ուղարկում Պագանում օգոստոսի 24-ի երկրաշարժից վնասված 190 հին բուդդայական պագոդաների պահպանության եւ վերականգնման համար: Այդ մասին հայտնել Է Reuters գործակալությունը: «Շատ ցավալի Է, որ մեր հին պագոդաները վնասված են, իսկ մի քանիսը նույնիսկ փլվել են»,- գործակալությանը պատմել Է պագանցի արհեստավոր Աունգ Նաինգ Վինը:

Ականատեսները հայտնում են օգոստոսի 25-ի առավոտյան Պագանում զինվորականների հայտնվելու մասին: Ոստիկանությունը շրջապատել Է ավերված պագոդաների մեծ մասը:

Ավելի վաղ The Global New Light Of Myanmar կառավարական թերթը հայտնել է, որ առավել շատ պաշտամունքային շինություններ են վնասվել Պագան քաղաքում, որտեղ գտնվում են մի քանի հազար բուդդայական պագոդաներ ու տաճարներ, որոնք կառուցվել են 11-14-րդ դարերում: Վնաս է հասցվել նաեւ Ռաքայն արեւմտյան նահանգում գտնվող բուդդայական սրբավայրերին: «Պագանում վնասվել է 185 պագոդա, վնասի չափերի վերաբերյալ վերջնական տվյալները դեռեւս ճշտվում են»,- նշել է հրատարակությունը:

Երկրաշարժի էպիկենտրոնը գտնվում էր Չաու բնակավայրից մի քանի կիլոմետր արեւմուտք ընկած շրջանում՝ Պագան քաղաքից ոչ հեռու: Ստորգետնյա ցնցումների հետեւանքով զոհվել է չորս մարդ, այդ թվում՝ երկու երեխա:

Մյանմայում տեղի ունեցած երկրաշարժից ստորգետնյա ցնցումներն զգացվել են երկրի խոշորագույն քաղաքում՝ Յանգոնում, ինչպես նաեւ տարածաշրջանի ընդարձակ տարածքում, Բանգլադեշի մայրաքաղաքում եւ Հնդկաստանի մի շարք նահանգներում, մասնավորապես, Արեւմտյան Բենգալիայում եւ Ասամում, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
