2012 թ. մարտին Քրիսթի Ադիսը թողեց իր՝ բանկիրի աշխատանքը Հարավային Կալիֆորնիայում:
Մինչև նրա հեռանալը նա աշխատում էր բավականին մեծ գումարներ, սակայն հիշում է, որ միևնույն է` այնքան էլ ուրախ չէր իր ապրելակերպով:
«Տարվա ընթացքում մեզ տրվող արձակուրդը տևում էր ընդամենը 14 օր», - ասում է նա, - « Սակայն այդ 2 շաբաթվա ընթացքում ես չէի կարողանում վայելել պատկերացրածս հանգստի անգամ 1/10 մասը: Իսկ ինչի՞ս էր պետք այդքան ստացածս գումարը, եթե չէի կարողանալու այն ծախսել ուզածիս վրա»:
Ավելի քիչ, քան մեկ տարի անց Ադիսը գնեց Բանգոկի տոմս՝ պլանավորելով ճանապարհորդել ողջ Հարավային Ասիայով: Այդ ժամանակից ի վեր, արդեն 29-ամյա աղջիկը միշտ շարժման մեջ է: Նա իր ճամփորդությունների մասին տեղեկություններ է գրում, նկարներ է հրապարակում սեփական «Եղիր իմ ճամփորդության մուսան» բլոգում:Նա անգամ գիրք է հասցրել գրել՝ «Նվաճելով սարերը. միայնակ կնոջ ճամփորդական ուղեցույց»:
« Ես խնայել եմ տարիներով: Գումարս պետք է ծախսեի կամ ճանապարհորդության, կամ էլ կոնդո բնակարան գնելու վրա»:
Նա հասցրել էր կուտակել $20,000, գումարած $60,000 կենսաթոշակային ֆոնդերով: Նա ինքն իրեն խոսք էր տվել, որ այս գումարին ձեռք չի տա այնքան ժամանակ, մինչև չգա դրա իրական պահը:
Ադիսի եկամուտները իր կայքից, գրքերի վաճառքից և տուրիզմային բրենդերի հետ աշխատանքներից՝ կազմում են նրա նախորդ աշխատանքի 40%-ի չափ գումար: Չնայած՝ այն շարունակաբար աճում է: Անգամ այսպես ավելի քիչ վաստակելով՝ Ադիսն ասում է, որ իրեն ավելի հարուստ է զգում, քան այն ժամանակ, երբ աշխատում էր բանկում: «Ես կարծում եմ, որ շատ մարդկանց համար կարևորագույնը ոչ թե վաստակած գումարի չափն է, այլ ազատությունը կամ ազատ ժամանակը»:
