Վրաստանում Հայաստանի դեսպան Յուրի Վարդանյանը դիմել է այդ երկրի գլխավոր դատախազություն՝ միջնորդելով ընթացակարգային գործարք ձեւակերպել Ուրան-238 ռադիոակտիվ նյութի իրացման գործով 6 ձերբակալվածներից մեկի՝ Հայաստանի քաղաքացի Աշոտ Գորոյանի հետ: Ըստ Sputnik-Գրուզիայի՝ այս մասին հաղորդել է ձերբակալվածի փաստաբան Թեմուր Գոգսաձեն:

«Կարող եմ հաստատել, որ Աշոտ Գորոյանին վերաբերող նման միջնորդություն կա: Եվս մեկ անգամ ընդգծեմ, որ պարոն դեսպանը դիվանագետ է եւ, հավանաբար, նա նման միջնորդություն կներկայացնի Հայաստանի մյուս քաղաքացիների մասով: Մենք միջնորդությամբ դատախազություն դիմել ենք օգոստոսի 10-ին»,- ասել է Գոգսաձեն:

Դեսպանն ու փաստաբանը միջնորդությունը բացատրել են այն հանգամանքով, որ Գորոյանը նշված հանցագործությանը նույն չափով մասնակից չէ, որքան մյուս մեղադրյալները: Բացի այդ, նա առողջական խնդիրներ ունի:

Վրաստանի Պետանվտանգության ծառայությունն ապրիլի 18-ին հաղորդել էր ռադիոակտիվ Ուրան-238 նյութի ապօրինի ձեռքբերման եւ իրացման մեղադրանքով Հայաստանի քաղաքացիներ Աշոտ Գորոյանի, Միհրան Մովսիսյանի, Հայկազ Հովակյանի եւ Վրաստանի քաղաքացիներ Թամազ Բիչիկաշվիլիի, Մուխտար Ցկիտիշվիլիի եւ Սավլե Լուրսմանաշվիլիի ձերբակալության մասին: Հետաքննության տվյալներով՝ մեղադրյալները պատրաստվում էին Թբիլիսիում միջուկային նյութը վաճառել 200 մլն դոլարով:
