Ասֆալտի վրա արված տարածական նկարները սթրիթ արտի՝ վերջերս ձևավորված յուրօրինակ ուղղության արդյունք են։ Նրանք հիմնված են տեսողական խաբկանքի վրա, քանի որ ամբողջական պատկերը հնարավոր է տեսնել միայն որոշակի հեռավորությունից և որոշակի անկյան տակ։ Եռաչափ ու միևնույն ժամանակ հարթ պատկերներ ստանալու արվեստը քչերին է հասանելու։ Միայն տաղանդավոր նկարիչ լինելն այս ասպարեզում բավարար պայման չէ։ Անհրաժեշտ է տիրապետել տեսողական խաբկանքի գաղտնիքներին, իմանալ կոմպոզիցիայի կառուցման բոլոր մեխանիզմներն ու հաշվի առնլ նույնիսկ ամենաչնչին մանրուքը։ 3D պատկերները շատ քմահաճ են, չեն ներում հեղինակի և ոչ մի սխալը։ Միևնույն ժամանակ այս ռեալիստական պատկերներն այնքան մոտ են իրականությանը, որ անկախ քեզնից հարգանքով ես լցվում դրանց հեղինակի նկատմամբ։
Ու թեև ասֆալտային արվեստը նոր-նոր է զարգանում աշխարհում, սակայն մասնագետների շրջանում ընդունված է կարծել, որ առաջին ասֆալտային նկարները հայտնվել են դեռևս 16-րդ դարում։ Եվրոպայում քաղաքից քաղաք շրջագայող փողոցային նկարիչները կավիճով կրոնական թեմաներով մեծածավալ պատկերներ էին զետեղում գետնին։ Ի դեպ, հիմնականում նրանք պատկերում էին Մադոննային։ ХХ դարի երկրորդ կեսերից արվեստի այս տեսակը տարածվեց ու զգալիորեն զարգացավ Եվրոպայում ու Ամերիկայում։ Իսկ 1972-ից ի վեր Իտալիայում ամեն տարի տեղի է ունենում փառատոն, որտեղ մեկ ընդհանուր հարթակում տարբեր նկարիչներ ստեղծագործում են անկախ թեմաներով։ Ի դեպ, նման փառատոներ կան նաև ԱՄՆ-ում։ Արվեստի այս ուղղության մեջ հատկապես աչքի է ընկնում բրիտանացի Ջուլիան Բիվերը։ Նա համարվում է նույնքան տաղանդավոր, որքան Բենքսին՝ սթրիթ արտում։
Այսօր արդեն ասֆալտի վրա արված 3D պատկերները ծառայում են նաև որպես գովազդ։ Այնպիսի հայտնի ընկերություններ, ինչպիսիք են IKEA-ն, Nike-ը, DHL-ը, Citroen-ը, Sony-ն, Nokia-ն, Hitachi-ն և այլն, ավելի ու ավելի են ուշադրություն հատկացնում գովազի այս արդյունավետ տեսակին։
