Աշխարհի փորձագետները Սանկտ Պետերբուրգը ճանաչել են Եվրոպայի լավագույն տուրիստական ուղղությունը: Քաղաքն ստացել Է ճանապարհորդությունների ինդուստրիայում հեղինակավոր World Travel Awards պարգեւը: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, ասված Է Հյուսիսային մայրաքաղաքի զբոսաշրջությա զարգացման կոմիտեի՝ սեպտեմբերի 5-ի մամուլի տեղեկագրում:
Մրցանակը նախօրյակին հանձնվել Է իտալական Սարդինիա կղզում: Այս տարի Եվրոպայի տուրիստական մայրաքաղաքի կոչման համար պայքարում Էին նաեւ Ամստերդամը, Բարսելոնը, Բեռլինը, Փարիզը, Իտալիայի երեք քաղաքներ (Հռոմը, Ֆլորենցիան, Վենետիկը) եւ ժողովրդականություն վայելող այլ քաղաքներ:
Ռոստուրիզմի փոխղեկավար Սերգեյ Կոռնեեւը կարծում Է, որ Պետերբուրգն արժանի Է այդ պարգեւին: «Դա մեծ աշխատանքի արդյունք Է, որը տեղական իշխանությունները կատարում են իրենց քաղաքն ամբողջ աշխարհում առաջ մղելու համար»,-նշել Է նա:
Հյուսիսային մայրաքաղաքը հանգստի լավագույն եվրոպական ուղղություն Էր ճանաչվել նաեւ 2015 թվականին:
Զբոսաշրջության բնագավառի համաշխարհային մրցանակը՝ World Travel Awards-ը, սահմանվել Է 1993 թվականին: Այն ամեն տարի տարբեր անվանակարգերում հանձնվում Է հազարավոր ճանապարհորդների եւ ինդուստրիայի մասնագետների քվեարկության արդյունքներով: Հաղթողին ի հայտ բերելու որոշիչ պարամետրերն են քաղաքի անվտանգությունը, զարգացած ենթակառուցվածքը եւ հյուրանոցային ցանցը:
Ամերիկյան The Wall Street Journal թերթն այդ մրցանակն անվանել Է զբոսաշրջության ճյուղի յուրատեսակ «Օսկար»:
