Կեսարյան հատումով ծնված երեխաների մոտ ավելի հավանական է ճարպակալման ռիսկը, քան բնական ճանապարհով ծնված երեխաների մոտ:

Հարվարդի հանրային առողջության բաժնի մասնագետները պարզել են, որ այն երեխաները, ում մայրերը կեսարյան հատման ճանապարհով են ծննդաբերել, 15%-ով ավելի հավանական է, որ իրենց պատանեկության տարիքում ճարպակալման խնդիր կունենան:

Նույն խնդիրը կարող է շարունակվել նաև չափահաս տարիքում:

Մեծ Բրիտանիայում կեսարյան հատումով ծննդաբերությունները գնալով ավելի են տարածվում: Ծննդաբերությունների 26%-ը Բրիտանիայում անց է կացվում կեսարյան հատումով:

Չնայած շատ դեպքերում հատումը անհրաժեշտ է բարդություններից խուսափելու համար, բժիշկները վստահեցնում են, որ դա կարող է լուրջ ազդեցություն ունենալ երեխայի հետագա կյանքի վրա:

Մասնագետները կարծում են, որ երեխաների՝ արգանդից անմիջապես հեռացնելու դեպքում երեխան չի առնչվում օգտակար բակտերիաների հետ, որոնք լինում են միայն բնական ծննդի դեպքում:

Գիտնականները կարծում են, որ բնական ճանապարհով ծնվելը բարելավում է երեխայի իմունային համակարգը և նախապատրաստում է լավ նյութափոխանակության:

Հետազոտողները ուսումնասիրել են ավելի քան 22.000 մարդկանց՝ սկսած իրենց ծննդյան օրից: Նրանք ուսումնասիրել են այդ մասնակիցներին 9-14 տարեկաններում և պարզել են, որ կեսարյան հատումով ծնվածների մոտ 15% ավելի հավանական էր ճարպակալելու ռիսկը, քան բնական ճանապարհով ծնվածների մոտ:

Հետագայում հետազոտողները վերանայել են նույն մասնակիցներին 20-28 տարեկաններում և պարզել են, որ ռիսկը դեռ պահպանվել էր, թեև այն արդեն իջել էր և հասել 10% տարբերության:

Կեսարյան հատումով և բնական ճանապարհով ծնվածների տարբերությունն ավելի ակնառու էր ընտանիքներում: Օրինակ նույն ընտանիքում կեսարյան հատումով ծնված երեխայի մոտ 65%-ով ավելի հավանական էր ճարպակալելու ռիսկը, քան թե բնական ճանապարհով ծնված նրա քրոջ կամ եղբոր մոտ:
