Անկախ նրանից, թե ինչ է անում Քանյեն, նրա աշխատանքը միևնույն է մեծ վիճաբանություններ և հակասություններ է բերում: Քանյեի Yeezy-ի հավաքածուի ցուցադրությունը Նյու Յորքի նորաձևության շաբաթում նույնպես բացառություն չէր: Հայտնի հիփ-հոփ աստղը, ով հիմա նաև բավականին հաջողակ է նորաձևության ասպարեզում, իր նոր հավաքածուն ցուցադրելու հետաքրքիր ձև էր մտածել Roosvelt Island-ում: Նա իր բացօթյա ցուցադրությանն էր հրավիրել ամենահայտնի խմբագիրներին, բլոգերներին և սոցիալական մեդիայի աստղերին, որպեսզի զարմացնի նրանց իր նոր ստեղծագործություններով:
Սակայն ամեն ինչ այնպես չընթացավ, ինչպես որ պլանավորված էր. մոդելները ուշաթափվում էին և ջրի կարիք ունեին, քանի որ նրանք պետք է կանգնեին կիզիչ արևի տակ:
Բացի այդ ցուցադրությունը սպասված ժամից մեկուկես ժամ ուշ է սկսվել, և մարդիկ ստիպված էին սպասել արևի տակ:
Այս ցուցադրությունն արժանացել է հյուրերի և խմբագիրների սուր քնադատությանը, քանի որ բացի չհաջողված ցուցադրությանը, որի ժամանակ նույնիսկ մոդելները չէին կարողանում քայլել բարձրակրունկ կոշիկների վրա և նրանցից մեկը նույնիսկ հանում է դրանք և ոտաբոբիկ քայլում, հյուրերը ստիպված են եղել երկար ժամանակ սպասել շոգում, և նրանց ոչինչ չեն հյուրասիրել:
