ՄԱԿ-ի Նյու Յորքի կենտրոնակայանում սեպտեմբերի 19-ին փախստականների եւ միգրանտների հարցով գագաթաժողով կանցկացվի: Մասնակիցները մտադիր են հավանության արժանացնել, այսպես կոչված, «Նյույորքյան հռչակագիրը»:
ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Բան Կի Մունն ընդգծել է, որ փաստաթղթում ներկայացված է պրագմատիկ եւ արդյունավետ մոտեցում պատերազմներից, բռնությունից, տարերային աղետների հետեւանքներից եւ քաղցից հարկադրված փրկվող մարդկանց պաշտպանության շուրջ:
Վերջին տարիներին ամբողջ աշխարհում վերջին 70 տարվա ընթացքում բնակչության ամենազանգվածային տեղաշարժն է գրանցվում: Հակամարտությունները, մարդու իրավունքների ոտնահարումները, տնտեսական ցնցումները, կլիմայի փոփոխությունն ու տարերային աղետներն ավելի ու ավելի մեծ թվով մարդկանց են հարկադրում լքել իրենց տները: Ապաստան որոնելու ճանապարհին նրանք անհավանական տառապանքներ են կրում:
15 տարվա ընթացքում միջազգային միգրանտների թիվն աճել է 40%-ով՝ գերազանցելով 244 միլիոնը: Շուրջ 65 մլն մարդ, որոնց կեսը՝ երեխաներ, փախել են բռնությունից կամ հետապնդումներից եւ փախստական կամ ներքին տեղահանված դարձել:
