Նյու Յորքում գործած պայթուցիկ սարքը, ինչպես նաեւ մյուս չպայթած ինքնաշեն ռումբը պատրաստված են եղել շուտեփուկներից եւ լցված խոցող տարրերով: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, սեպտեմբերի 18-ին իր Էլեկտրոնային տարբերակում այս մասին հայտնել Է Tew York Times թերթը:
Հրատարակության աղբյուրների տվյալներով, որոնք ծանոթ են հետաքննության ընթացքին, երկու սարքերն Էլ պարունակել են առանցքակալների նման խոցող տարրեր: Դրանց նաեւ միացված են եղել շարժական հեռախոսներ, որոնք օգտագործվել են որպես թայմերներ:
