«168 ժամ» թերթը գրում է. «1991 թվականին Աստծո կամոք ու աշխարհում իրերի դրության փոփոխության ու հանգամանքների դասավորության բերումով հայ ժողովուրդը ձեռք բերեց անկախություն։ Բայց Աստված այդ հնարավորությունը ու բարեգթությունը տալու հետ միասին ու միաժամանակ ու ենթադրաբար՝ դրանից առաջ տվել է նաեւ խելք, որն անհատական ու մարդկային լինելով՝ հավաքական է նաեւ ու հանրային է։ Այդպիսով, հասարակական է նաեւ ու պետական է՝ այդքանով։

Անկախությունը նվեր չէ՝ տարվա մեջ ինչ-որ օրեր գեղեցիկ տոներ նշելու համար։ Անկախությունը պարգեւ է, որը պետք է պահպանել առաջին հերթին՝ Աստծո մյուս տվածով՝ խելքով։ Որովհետեւ Աստված խելքը տվել է ոչ թե ստրկամտությունն ու տիրապաշտությունը քողարկելու զավզակության, այլ անկախությունը մշտական ու հարատեւ կեցության վերածելու համար։ Անկախությունն աստվածային շնորհ լինելով՝ քրիստոնեության հիմնաքարերից է ըստ էության, որովհետեւ Աստծո ստեղծած մարդն ազատ մարդն է, եւ ուրեմն մարդը կարող է ազատ լինել միայն անկախ պետությունում։

Մարդկությանը հայտնի տոտալիտար հասարակություններում ապրված ազատ եզակիությունները սիմվոլիկ են իրենց բացառիկությամբ։ Ու եթե դա այդպես է, ուրեմն անկախության դեմ ցանկացած ոտնձգություն, անկախության ցանկացած սակարկում ու վերապահում հակաքրիստոնեական է ու հակաաստվածային է։ Ու եթե նաեւ դա է այդպես, ուրեմն անկախ լինել՝ նշանակում է՝  արժանի լինել Քրիստոնեությունն առաջինը որպես պետական կրոն ընդունած ազգի կոչմանը, որը գովազդային հոլովակներում գեղեցիկ հնչող կարգախոսից բացի ու դրանից առաջ՝ պարտավորություն է։ Ու եթե պարտավորություն է, ուրեմն այսօր՝ Անկախության հռչակման 25-ամյակին, առավել քան երբեւէ, պարտավոր ենք արձանագրել, որ՝

Անկախությանը կախյալության հականիշը չէ։

Անկախությունն ազատության հոմանիշն է։

Անկախությունը ստրկության հականիշը չէ։

Անկախությունն ինքնիշխանության հոմանիշն է։

Անկախությունը կուշտ լինելու հականիշը չէ։

Անկախությունն ինքնաբավ լինելու հոմանիշն է:
