Ամենայն Հայոց կաթողիկոս Վազգեն Առաջինն այսօր կդառնար 108 տարեկան

Հայոց կաթողիկոս Վազգեն Ա. Պալճյանը, ում շնորհիվ փրկվել ու Մատենադարանին են հանձնվել բազմաթիվ ձեռագրեր ու արժեքավոր վավերագրեր, այսօր կդառնար 108 տարեկան:
Վազգեն Առաջինը (ավազանի անունը` Լևոն Կարապետ) նախնական կրթությունը ստացել է Օդեսայի հայկական նախակրթարանում, ապա շարունակել Բուխարեստում: Նա Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցու 130-րդ Կաթողիկոսն է:
1943 թ-ի սեպտեմբերին ռումինահայ թեմական խորհրդի որոշմամբ կաթողիկոսը մեկնել է Աթենք, որտեղ Սբ. Կարապետ եկեղեցում ձեռնադրվել է կուսակրոն քահանա: Նույն թվականի նոյեմբերին ընտրվել է Ռումինիայի հայոց թեմի առաջնորդական տեղապահ, ապա թեմի առաջնորդ: 1948 թ-ի մայիսի 23-ին Սբ. Էջմիածնի Մայր տաճարում Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոս Գևորգ Զ Չորեքչյանը նրան օծել է ծայրագույն վարդապետ, 1951 թ-ի մայիսին՝ եպիսկոպոս: 1954 թ-ի դեկտեմբերի 31-ին ստանձնել է նաև Բուլղարիայի հայոց թեմի առաջնորդի պարտականությունները:
1955 թ-ին ընտրվելով Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոս՝ ծավալել է եկեղեցաշինական-վերականգնողական մեծ աշխատանք. նրա օրոք վերանորոգվել են Էջմիածնի Մայր տաճարը, Սբ. Հռիփսիմե, Սբ. Գայանե, Սբ. Շողակաթ եկեղեցիները, Խոր վիրապի վանքը, Գեղարդավանքը և բազմաթիվ այլ շինություններ: Մայր տաճարի շրջակաքում կառուցվել են Նահատակաց հուշարձանը, Խրիմյան Հայրիկին նվիրված աղբյուր-կոթողը, Գալուստ Գյուլբենկյան վանատունը, Ալեք և Մարի Մանուկյան գանձատունը, ժամանակակից սարքավորումներով վերազինվել է Մայր աթոռի տպարանը:
1962 թ-ին Հայ եկեղեցին դարձել է Եկեղեցիների համաշխարհային խորհրդի, ապա՝ Եվրոպական եկեղեցիների համաժողովի անդամ:
1992 թ-ի մայիսի 28-ին Վազգեն Ա կաթողիկոսը հատուկ կոչով դիմել է Հայ եկեղեցու թեմակալ առաջնորդներին` սատարելու «Հայաստան» համահայկական հիմնադրամի ստեղծմանը:
2008 թ-ին «Վավերագրեր Հայ եկեղեցու պատմության» մատենաշարով լույս է տեսել «Վազգեն Ա Պալճյան. Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոս» փաստաթղթերի և վավերագրերի ժողովածուն:
Վազգեն Ա-ն պարգևատրվել է Խաղաղության համաշխարհային խորհրդի Ժոլիո Կյուրիի անվան և Խաղաղության պաշտպանության կոմիտեի ոսկե մեդալներով, Ռումինիայի «Հանրապետության աստղ», ԽՍՀՄ «Պատվո նշան» և &laq uo;Ժողովուրդների բարեկամություն» շքանշաններով:
Վազգեն Ա-ն ընտրվել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ պատվավոր անդամ, ՀՀ-ում առաջինն է արժանացել Ազգային հերոսի կոչմանը: Վազգեն Ա-ի անունով կոչվել են Սևանի հոգևոր դպրանոցը և դպրոց` Վանաձորում, հուշարձաններ են կանգնեցվել Վազգենյան հոգևոր դպրանոցի բակում և Մայր աթոռ Սբ. Էջմիածնում:
2008 թվականի մայիսի 12-ին Երևանի Աջափնյակ վարչական շրջանի 168 միջնակարգ դպրոցն անվանակոչվել է Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոս Վազգեն Առաջինի անվամբ։
