Ժամանակին կատակ կար այն թեմայով, որ կգա մի օր, և բժիշկները բոլոր հիվանդությունների բուժման համար միայն մեկ բան կնշանակեն՝ մարիխուանա (կանեփ): Այսպիսով, ԱՄՆ-ում աստիճանաբար ոչ միայն օրինականացվում է «կանաչ»-ի վաճառքը, այլ այն նաև արդեն պաշտոնապես հայտարարվել է քաղցկեղի դեմ պայքարի միջոց:
Այս մասին պաշտոնական հայտարարությունը ԱՄՆ իշխանությունները տեղադրել են քաղցկեղով հիվանդների համար ստեղծված կառավարական կայքում:
Քաղցկեղի ուսումնասիրությամբ զբաղվող ազգային ինստիտուտը, որը ԱՄՆ Առողջապահության նախարարության մաս է կազմում, հայտարարում է , որ «մարիխուանան կարող է օգնել հիվանդին հաղթահարելու քիմիաթերապիայի արդյունքում ի հայտ եկած հակազդեցությունները»: Օգտագործման եղանակներից մասնագետներն առաջարկում են ծխելը, այն հացաբուլկեղենի արտադրության մեջ օգտագործելը, թուրմը՝ թեյի տեսքով և պարզապես լեզվի տակ դնելը:
Ըստ ուսումնասիրությունների արդյունքների՝ կանեփը՝ մարիխուանան, օգնում է քաղցկեղով ախտահարված օրգանիզմին կասեցնել քաղցկեղային բջիջների աճը, հակաբորբոքային ազդեցություն ունի և կանխարգելում է արյունատար անոթների կողմից քաղցկեղային բջիջների սնուցումը: Մարիխուանան հանում է նաև մկանային ցավերը, որոնք առաջանում են աթերոսկլերոզ հիվանդության պատճառով: Իսկ ուսումնասիրություններ կատարող բժիշկների մի խումբ էլ կարծում է, որ մարիխուանան բուժում է գլխուղեղի քաղցկեղը:
Հրապարակվել է նաև հակաքաղցկեղային դեղամիջոցների այն ցանկը, որոնք կանեփ են պարունակում: Ավելին, գիտնականների մի խումբ էլ պնդում է, որ դեղամիջոցները օրգանիզմի առողջ և հիվանդ բջիջների վրա միանման են գործում, իսկ ահա մարիխուանան սպանում է միայն հիվանդ բջիջները: Նշվում է նաև, որ մարիխուանան օգնում է ազատվել գլխուղեղի, աղիների, լյարդի, թոքերի և կրծքագեղձի քաղցկեղից:
