Նա ազնվորեն կատարեց իր պարտքը։ Տեսնելով, որ թշնամին իր դիմաց է, գիտակցաբար գնաց առաջ ու ճանապարհից հետ չդարձավ։ Իր անունն Ավետիս է, բայց ծնողներն այդ օրը՝ ապրիլի 4-ին, բարի լուր չստացան։ Ավետիս Զարգարյան։ Հերոսի պես մինչև վերջ մարտնչեց, սակայն ծանր վիրավորվեց։ Քառօրյա պատերազմում աչքի ընկած ևս մեկ անուն։
Համեստ, քչախոս, բայց նաև շատ ուժեղ բնավորությամբ մի երիտասարդ, ով չցանկացավ պատմել իր քաջագործությունների մասին, իր մասին։ Նա իրեն հերոս չի համարում, սակայն նրա մայրը անբացատրելի հպարտություն է ապրում: Եվ իսկապես կարող է հպարտանալ, քանի որ ընդունի Ավետիսը, թե ոչ, նրա արարքը հերոսական է։ Նրա մոր՝ Սոնյա Զարգարյանի խոսքով, նա ընդհանրապես չի սիրում խոսել իր հերոսության մասին, չի ուզում, որպեսզի բարձրաձայնվի այդ։
Տիկին Սոնյան ասաց, որ Ավետիսը միշտ հասնող, աշխատասեր, կամեցող երեխա է եղել։ «Միջնակարգ կրթությունը ավարտելուց հետո ընտանիքով գնացինք Ռուսաստան՝ Կրասնոդար։ Հետո ինքը չցանկացավ մնալ այնտեղ, ասաց, որ պետք է վերադառնա և ծառայի հայրենիքին։ Կրասնոդարից եկավ ու մեկնեց Թալիշ՝ առաջին գիծ։ Ծառայել է 1 տարի 3 ամիս, հունվարին արդեն պետք է զորացրվեր։ Սակայն ծառայությունը կիսատ մնաց, քանի որ վիրավորվեց թշնամու գնդակից»։
Ավետիսի ստացած վերքերը շատ էին և ծանր։ Նրան Ստեփանակերտից տեղափոխել են Մուրացանի հոսպիտալ, սակայն հույս չեն տվել, որ կապրի։ Նա վիրավորվել էր ծնոտի հատվածում, գնդակը անցել էր մարմնով՝ վնասելով վեց ողը, ողնուղեղը։ Վնասված է նաև ողնաշարը։
«Ներկա դրությամբ նա արդեն չորս վիրահատություն է տարել, և դեռ էլի պետք է արվեն բժշկական գործողություններ։ Շատ շնորհակալ ենք հոսպիտալի բժիշկներին, ովքեր իմ որդուն բուժում են և փորձում նրան ոտքի կանգնեցնել։ Ինքը հրաշքով փրկվել է, և ես հավատում եմ, որ կվերականգնվի և ոտքի կկանգնի»։
… Ավետիսը մտածում է ապաքինվելուն պես գնալ և ծառայությունն ավարտել։
