Եվրոգոտին կարող է առաջիկա տարիներին փլվել անդամ երկրների անբավարար վճռականության ու համերաշխության պատճառով, կարծում է Նոբելյան մրցանակաբաշխության տնտեսագիտության ոլորտի դափնեկիր Ջոզեֆ Ստիգլիցը։ «Ինձ անհանգստացում է այն արագությունը, որով Եվրոպայում կատարվում են որոշումները»,- ասել է ամերիկացի տնտեսագետը Die Welt թերթին տված հարցազրույցում։ Նրա խոսքով քաղաքական գործիչները պայմանավորվում են այն մասին, թե ինչ է պետք անել, բայց հետո նրանց որոշումները արգելափակվում են, իրագործումը ձգձգվում է, ժամանակ է կորում։

Ստիգլիցը համարում է, որ անհրաժեշտ է արմատական բարեփոխումներ իրականացնել, օրինակ բանկային միություն կամ ավանդների պաշտպանության միասնական համակարգ ստեղծել։ Սակայն նա չի կարծում, որ քաղաքական գործիչները կարող են երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարում պահպանել արժութային միության գործունեությունը։ «Տասը տարուց եվրագոտին դեռ գոյություն կունենա, բայց հարց է, թե ինչ վիճակում։ Շատ քիչ հավանական է, որ այն նորից 19 անդամ կունենա»,- կանխատեսում է ՀԲ նախկին գլխավոր տնտեսագետը։

Նրա կարծիքով միայն եվրոպական միասնական արժույթը հյուսիսային ու հարավային եվրոյի բաժանելու միջոցով է հնարավոր նոր խթան հաղորդել Եվրոպայի կաթվածահար եղած տնտեսությանը։ Որպես օրինակ Սթիգլիցը Իտալիան է բերել։ «Երբ ես շփվում եմ իտալացիների հետ, զգում եմ,որ մարդիկ այնտեղ օրեցօր ավելի են հիասթափվում եվրոյից»։ Այդ երկրի գիտնականներն ու քաղաքական գործիչները նույնպես հասկանում են, որ Իտալիայի համար եվրոն անգրոծունակ է, վստահ է տնետսագետը։
