Ֆրանսիայի «Հավասարության և քաղաքացիության» օրենքում փոփոխությունների միջոցով ցեղասպանությունների ժխտումը քրեականացնելու հարցը հնարավոր է եղել դուրս բերել խոսքի ազատությանն առնչվող խնդիրների հետ բախումից, որոնք 2012թ-ի փետրվարին նշվել են Ֆրանսիայի Սահմանադրական խորհրդի կողմից:
Վկայակոչելով Ֆրանսիայի Սենատի պաշտոնական կայքը, նման հայտարարությամբ օրենքի վերաբերալ քննարկումների ժամանակ հանդես է եկել Օ դը Սենը ներկայացնող կոմունիստ հանրապետականների խմբակցությունից սենատոր Բրիժիթ Գոնթիե-Մորենը:
«Այս նոր օրենքը կոչված է հանդարտեցնելու երբեմն մասնատված հասարակությանը: Օրենքի այս հոդվածն Ազգային ժողովում ընդունվել է միաձայն, այն առնչվում է ճանաչված բոլոր ցեղասպանություններին, այդ թվում 1915թ-ի Հայոց ցեղասպանությանը, որը ճանաչվել է 2001թ-ին»,- նշել է Բրիժիթ Գոնթիե-Մորենը
Ֆրանսիայի Սենատը հոկտեմբերի 14-ին կայացած քննարկման ևքվեարկության արդյունքում ընդունել է, ի թիվս մարդկության դեմ գործածայլ հանցագործությունների, Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումըքրեականացնող օրինագիծը: Օրինագծին կողմ է քվեարկել 156, դեմ` 146 պատգամավոր:
Ֆրանսիայի խորհրդարանի ստորին պալատի՝ Ազգային ժողովի պատգամավորները, հուլիսին միաձայն կողմ են քվեարկել «Հավասարություն ևքաղաքացիության» օրենքում փոփոխություններին, որոնք պատիժ են սահմանում մարդկության դեմ գործած բոլոր հանցագործությունները, այդ թվում` Հայոցցեղասպանությունը ժխտելու և հերքելու համար:
Օրինագծում փոփոխությունները հնարավոր է վիճարկել Ֆրանսիայի Սահմանադրական խորհրդում, եթե համապատասխան դիմում տակ ստորագրենՖրանսիայի խորհրդարանի 60 պատգամավորներ:
