ԱՄՆ-ի ամենահին ու հարգված թերթերից մեկը՝ The Nation-ը, անդրադարձել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության թեմայով Հոլիվուդում նկարահանված «Խոստում» ֆիլմին՝ նշելով, որ «այն հանդիսատեսի համար կբացահայտի պատմության ամենաողբերգական էջերից մեկը, որն անամոթաբար ժխտվել է չափազանց երկար ժամանակ»:
Ներկայացնելով 20-րդ դարասկզբի ողբերգական դեպքերի ժամանակագրությունն ու սահմռկեցուցիչ մանրամասները՝ հոդվածագիր Պիետրո Ա. Շաքարյանը մեջբերում է ամերիկացի դիվանագետ Լյուիս Էյնշտեյնի՝ 1920թ. The Nation ամսագրում հրապարակված նյութից մի հատված. «Հայերից շատ ոչ ոք չի տանջվել թուրքական կառավարության իրականացրած սպանությունների դիվային քաղաքականության հետևանքով»:
Անդրադառնալով ամերիկացի ռեժիսոր Թերի Ջորջի «Խոստում»-ին՝ հեղինակը նկատում է, որ «Ցեղասպանության վերաբերյալ ֆիլմ նկարելը հեշտ գործ չէ, սակայն այս մեկը տվյալ թեմայով երբևէ ստեղծված լավագույն ֆիլմն է՝ հզոր դերասանական կազմով, տպավորիչ ռեժիսուրայով ու ճշմարտացի սյուժեով»:
Շաքարյանը նաև նշում է, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության վերաբերյալ ֆիլմ նկարելու բազմաթիվ փորձեր տարբեր տարիների, տարբեր պատճառներով ձախողվել են Հոլիվուդում: Ուստի՝ այս համատեքսում «Խոստում»-ի ստեղծումը խիստ խորհրդանշական է:
««Խոստում»-ի գլխավոր առավելություններից մեկն այն է, որ ֆիլմը չի կենտրոնանում կոնկրետ պատմության վրա ու ներկայացնում է Ցեղասպանության բոլոր կողմերը՝ չաղավաղելով ժամանակագրությունը, դեպքերի աշխարհագրությունն ու պատմական իրողությունը: Գովելի է նաև, որ կարոտախտի և տառապանքի հետ մեկտեղ՝ ֆիլմի գլխավոր թեմաներից է նաև քաջությունը»,-շարունակում է հոդվածագիրը:
