«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է

Առաջին դրամարկղային մեքենան հորինել է ԱՄՆ-ի Օհայո նահանգի Դայտոնայի բնակիչ Ջեյմս Ռիտտին: Նա 1871 թվականին բացել է մի փոքրիկ սրահ և դարձել ռեստորանատեր: Ռեստորանը շատ սիրված է եղել, բայց տիրոջ համար շահութաբեր չի եղել աշխատակիցների կողմից ստացված հասույթի մի մասի գողության պատճառով: Աշխատակիցների անընդհատ փոփոխությունները չեն լուծել այդ խնդիրը, քանի որ եկել են նորերը, և ամեն ինչ կրկնվել է: Կադրային փոփոխությունը միայն նոր խնդիրներ ու կորուստներ է բերել կազմակերպությանը: Մի անգամ Եվրոպայում նավով ճանապարհորդելիս Ռիտտին հանդիպել է նավի գլխավոր մեխանիկին: Նա հետաքրքրությամբ դիտել է նրա աշխատանքը և պտուտակի լիսեռի պտույտները հաշվելու մեքենան: Հենց այդ ժամանակ էլ նրա գլխում գաղափար է հղացել փող հաշվելու համար պատրաստել նմանատիպ մեքենա:

Ռիտտին անմիջապես ընդհատել է իր ճանապարհորդությունը: Վերադառնալով տուն՝ նա իր եղբայր Ջոնի հետ միասին ստեղծել է մի անսովոր սարք, որը բաղկացած է եղել դոլարներ և ցենտներ նշագծումներով մի քանի ստեղներից: Սարքի կատարած գործողություններն արձանագրվել են հատուկ սկավառակի վրա: Դա եղել է առաջին դրամարկղային մեքենան: Արդյունքում ռեստորանի շահութաբերությունն անմիջապես աճել է: Սարքը հնարավորություն է տվել ամբողջությամբ հաշվառել ամբողջ հասույթը: Բացի այդ, շնորհիվ նոր և անսովոր սարքի, այդ հաստատության ժողովրդականությունն էլ ավելի է աճել: Հետագայում Ռիտտին և եղբայրը բարելավել են իրենց այդ սարքը: Նոր ապարատը արտոնագրվել է 1879 թվականի նոյեմբերին: Հսկիչ դրամարկղային մեքենայի իրենց երրորդ մոդելին նրանք տվել են «Անկաշառ գանձապահ Ռիտտի» անունը. այդ սարքը արդեն գիտեր, թե ինչպես ցույց տալ ընդհանուր գումարը: Իսկ ահա չորրորդ մոդելն արդեն կարող էր դրամարկղային կտրոն տրամադրել, որի վրա ընդհանուր գումարը նշվում էր դակիչի անցքերի միջոցով: Հենց այդ մոդելն էլ դարձել է մասսայական արտադրության հաշվիչ դրամարկղային առաջին մեքենան:

1881 թվականին Ջեյմսը վերադարձել է իր հիմնական աշխատանքին ռեստորանում: Նա վաճառել է հսկիչ դրամարկղային մեքենայի արտոնագիրը National Cash Register ընկերությանը, որը գործում է մինչ օրս: Այսօր այդ հսկայական ընկերությունը արտադրում է ոչ միայն ՀԴՄ-ներ, այլ նաև ծրագրեր դրանց համար: Նշենք, որ ժամանակակից հսկիչ դրամարկղային մեքենաները բոլորովին նման չեն Ռիտտ եղբայրների արտադրած առաջին մոդելներին: Ներկայիս ՀԴՄ-ները անգամ միացված են համացանցին, և դրանց կատարած գործողություններին կարող են հետևել հեռավորության վրա, ընդ որում, ցանկացած կատարված գործողություն արձանագրվում է սարքի հիշողության մեջ և ցանկացած ժամանակ ենթակա է վերարտադրման:
