Թուրքիայում Հայաստանն ու հայ ժողովրդին լավ են ճանաչում։ Գիտեն, թե որքան կարևոր է պատմական հիշողությունը մեզ համար։ Քաջատեղյակ են, թե որքան ենք մենք կապված մեր հայրենիքի Արևմտյան մասի հետ, որ այսօր Թուրքիայի վերահսկողության ներքո է, այս մասին հայտարարել է թյուրքագետ Վարուժան Գեղամյանը։
Ըստ նրա՝ թուրքերին այդ գիտելիքը օգնում է, որպեսզի ճիշտ մշակեն այսօր մեր հանդեպ տարվող նվաճողական քաղաքականությունը։
«Սրա մի օրինակ այսօր կարելի է տեսնել Թուրքիայի հետ վարվող ու անվերջ թմբկահարվող «բանակցությունների» շրջանակներում։
Այսպես, եթե ուշադրություն դարձնե՛ք, ապա ՀՀ դե-ֆակտո իշխանությունների հետ թուրքերի ամեն հանդիպումից հետո արված հայտարարություններում կա մոտավոր այսպիսի ձևակերպում. «Հայաստանի ու Թուրքիայի ներկայացուցիչները նաև պայմանավորվել են, որ ջանքեր կգործադրվեն մշակույթի և ակադեմիական ոլորտներում համագործակցությունն ամրապնդելու ուղղությամբ, մասնավորապես... պատմական Անիի/Մետաքսի ճանապարհի կամրջի համատեղ վերականգնման միջոցով»։
Հայաստանի համար որևէ գործնական նշանակություն չունեցող Անիի կամրջի հայտնվելը այս «բանակցություններում» բացառապես մի նպատակ ունի։ Հիշատակելով Արևմտյան Հայաստանի հետ կապված Անի քաղաքը՝ հայ ժողովրդի մոտ արթնացնել հույզեր դեպի կորուսյալ հայրենիքը՝ այդպիսով թմրեցնելով բանակցությունների մնացած կետերի հանդեպ ուշադրությունը։ Կետեր, որոնք ուղղված են նրան, որ Հայաստանը աստիճանաբար վերածվի թուրքական ազդեցության գոտու։ Փաստացի, մեզ տալիս են մեր հայրենիքի մի կտորի հետ խորհրդանշական կապ ու դրա վերականգման պատրանք, որպեսզի հեշտությամբ խլեն մեր ունեցած մասը։
