Տնտեսագիտության մեջ կա մեկ բացարձակ ճշմարտություն առ այն, որ անսպառ ռեսուրսներ չկան: Տնտեսագիտական այս աքսիոման, կարծես թե, ճշտությամբ աշխատում է մեր հարևան երկրի` Ադրբեջանի համար: Իհարկե, դեռ վաղ է խոսել այն մասին, որ ադրբեջանական նավթը կարող է շուտով սպառվել, սակայն մեկ հանգամանք` նավթի գնի վայրիվերումները կտրուկ անդրադառնում են Ադրբեջանի տնտեսության ու կյանքի որակի վրա: Ակնհայտ է, որ ալիևյան կլանը, որն այսքան ժամանակ, հասարակության օրինաչափ բողոքը կարողանում էր զսպել այդ ռեսուրսներից եկած միջոցների հաշվին, այժմ արդեն ունակ չէ դա անելու: Ունակ չէ, եթե անգամ նավթի գները կտրուկ աճեն:

Դրանք ունեն մի քանի խորքային պատճառներ: Նախ՝ այն հանգամանքը, որ երկրի ունեցվածքի մեծ մասը կենտրոնացված է Ալիևի ընտանիքի և այդ ընտանիքին մոտ կանգնած կլանների ձեռքում: Իսկ ինչպես հայտնի է, հետխորհրդային տարածքի նորաթուխ օլիգարխները չեն սիրում ներդրումներ անել իրենց երկրներում և ֆինանսական կապիտալն արտահոսում է երկրից՝ է՛լ ավելի ծանր վիճակի մեջ դնելով տնտեսությունը: 

Մյուս հանգամանքը դա սպառող հասարակություն ստեղծելն է: Պատմության կենսափորձը ցույց է տալիս, որ բոլոր այն հասարակությունները, որոնք գնում են բարիքների սպառման ճանապարհով, ասել կուզե` չեն դառնում արտադրող հասարակություններ, դատապարտված են կործանման: Այդպես է եղել բոլոր կայսրությունների և միայն ռեսուրսների հաշվին ապրող երկրների հետ: Ադրբեջանն էլ յուրատեսակ փոքրիկ կայսրություն է ` Ալիևի գլխավորությամբ: 

Փողի ու պետական միջոցների պակասները այս երկրում որոշեցին կարգավորել ուղիղ դիկտատորիկ ճանապարհով: Այն է` բնակչության հաշվին: Դեկտեմբերի 1–ից և հունվարի 1–ից մատուցվող կոմունալ և այլ ծառայությունների սակագները հարևան երկրում շեշտակի թանկանալու են: Այդ է վկայում նաև այն հանգամանքը, որ մի քանի օր է երկրում անկանոն են գործում իշխանության քարոզին այլընտրանք համարվող «Ամերիկայի ձայն» և «Ազատություն» ռադիոկայանների կայքերը: Այդ կայքերն ունեն բավականին մեծ լսարան: 

Ինչպես տեղեկացնում են ադրբեջանցի մեր գործընկերները և ալիևյան ռեժիմի այլախոհները, այս քայլով Ալիևը փորձում է ինֆորմացիոն բլոկադայի ենթարկել հասարակությանը և կատարել այն քայլերը, որոնք նախատեսել էր ի սկզբանե: Ադրբեջանական պաշտոնական գերատեսչությունները հրաժարվում են այս հարցի շուրջ որևէ մեկնաբանություն տալ: Սա ևս մեկ վառ ապացույց է այն մասին, որ կայքերն արգելափակվում են նախագահականի ուղղակի հրամանով: 

Սրան զուգահեռ, երբ պակասում է փողը, և դրանից տուժում են անգամ բարեկեցիկ համարվող ադրբեջանական հասարակական շերտերը, Ալիևի իշխանության նկատմամբ դժգոհությունն ավելանում է: Դա կարող է հանգեցնել անկանխատեսելի իրավիճակների: Սակայն այս ամենից պետք չէ ուրախանալ: Մեկ անգամ չէ, որ այս դիկտատորն աչքի է ընկել իր ոչ ադեկվատ վարքով: Իսկ հասարակական դժգոհությունների ալիքը մեղմելու կամ դրանք այլ կողմ ուղղորդելու համար, նա կարող է հերթական անգամ շահարկել արցախյան հարցը և նոր արկածախնդրություն կազմակերպել սահմաններին:
