Գիտեի՞ք, որ գնչուները Հնդկաստանի բնիկներ են եղել: Այդ է պատճառը, որ նրանք մինչ օրս հասկանում են հնդկերեն արտահայտություններ և առանց թարգմանության կարող են հնդկական ֆիլմեր դիտել: Սակայն գիտնականները այդպես էլ չկարողացան պարզել, թե որն է եղել նրանց միգրացիայի և ամբողջ աշխարհով սփռվելու հիմնական պատճառը: Այսօր նրանք բացի Անտարկտիդայից, գրեթե ամենուր են: Միայն Եվրոպական երկրներում նրանց թիվը հասնում է 12 միլիոնի:

Յուրաքանչյուր գնչուի համար դաժան պատիժ է համարվում գնչուական խմբի կազմից արտաքսելը: Այս պատիժը կիրառվում է ամենաբարդ պայմանների կամ լուրջ հանցագործությունների դեպքում: Լայն տարածում գտած «լավե» բառը, որն օգտագործում են նաև ռուսները, գնչուական բառ է, որը նշանակում է փող: Եթե գնչուի միայն մեկ ականջին կա ականջօղ՝ դա նշանակում է, որ նա ընտանիքի միակ երեխան է: Նրանց մազերը հիմնականում երկար են, դժվար թե հանդիպեք կարճ մազերով գնչուի: Կարճ վարսերը նրանք ընկալում են որպես անպատվություն:

Մեր օրերում  գնչուները հրաժարվում են քոչվորական ապրելակերպից, եվրոպական գնչուների մոտ 1% -ն է, որ մի վայրից մեկ այլ վայր է տեղափոխվում:

Գնչուական ուտեստներից առավել տարածված և արտասովոր են  համարվում տապակած կամ խորոված ոզնին: Այս ուտեստը հատկապես սիրում են Լեհաստանի և Մերձբալթիկայի գնչուները: Սերը այս կերակրատեսակի նկատմամբ առաջացել է դեռ անտառներում ապրելու ժամանակներից, երբ գնչուներին անընդմեջ հետապնդում էին:

Գնչուական արարողությունների ժամանակ հազիվ թե տեսնեք գինովցած գնչուի: Նրանց մոտ ընդունված չէ մեծ քանակությամբ ալկոհոլի օգտագործումը: Այդ է պատճառը, որ գնչուական խմբով շրջելու ժամանակ թափորը ղեկավարում են երիտասարդ գնչուները, որոնց չի թույլատրվում ալկոհոլ օգտագործել մեծերի ներկայությամբ:

Նրանց պարտականությունների մեջ է մտնում բոլոր տեսակի կոնֆլիկտների կանխարգելումը: Գնչուների համար պաշտելի են իրենց երեխաները: Այն ընտանիքում, որտեղ կան երեխաներ, հյուրերը, համաձայն գնչուական սովորության, պետք է նվերներ բերեն նրանց, իսկ եթե երեխային, ով հյուր է գնացել մի այլ գնչուի տուն և հավանել ինչ-որ իր, ապա կարող է այն իրենը համարել: Ինչքան լավն է կինը՝ որպես մայր, այնքան նրան ավելի են սիրում և գնահատում համայնքում: Գնչուները հարում են կամ քրիստոնեությանը կամ իսլամին, սակայն կան նաև այլ կրոնների ներկայացուցիչներ:

Մահացած գնչուի իրերը համարվում են կեղտոտ իրեր և թաղվում իր հետ:

Ամուսնությունից հետո նորապսակները սովորաբար ապրում են փեսայի տանը, նրա ծնողների հետ և որոշ ժամանակ անց տեղափոխվում իրենց սեփական բնակարան: Միայն կրտսեր որդին պետք է ապրի ծնողների հետ, որպեսզի հոգ տանի նրանց մասին ծերության տարիներին:

Գնչուների սերը ոսկու նկատմամբ բացատրվում է այն բանով, որ նրանք վախենում են աղքատությունից և ոսկին համարվում է ապահովագրություն: Գնչուները գիտեն ինչպես հիպնոսացնել մարդկանց, որպեսզի խաբեն նրանց, այնպես որ խորհուրդ չի տրվում երկար նայել նրանց աչքերին:
