Այս հին կոթողը` կիսամարդ–կիսալեռ, կառուցվել է 16–րդ դարում, հանրահայտ իտալացի քանդակագործ Ջոմբոլոնյայի կողմից։ Հսկայական կառույցի բարձրությունը 10,6 մետր է։ Լեռնային աստծուն տվել են Ապեննինո անունը. այդպիսով իտալացիները ցանկացել են ցույց տալ Ապեննինների հնություն ու հզորությունը։ Արձանը գտնվում է Վիլլա Մեդիչեա դի Պրատոլինոյի տարածքում, Տոսկանայում։
Բացի անձեռակերտ թվացող տեսքից, այս քանդակը իր մեջ գաղտնիք է պարունակում։ Դրա ներսում գաղտնի սենյակներ են, որոնք տարատեսակ կարիքների համար են նախատեսված։ Դրսի կողմի Ապեննինոն աջ ձեռքով խեղդում է գազանին, որ բերանից պարբերաբար փոքրիկ ջրվեժ է հոսում։
