Հին Հռոմում գլադիատորական մարտերը սարսափեցնող էին ու միաժամանակ գրավիչ տեսարան:
Սակայն քչերը գիտեն, որ տղամարդկանց հետ հավասար պայքարել են նաև կանայք: Պատմության մեջ նման առաջին կինը Գերարդեսկա Մանուտիուսն էր:
Նա մարտ մղելիս դաժանությամբ գերազանցում էր բազմաթիվ տղամարդկանց՝ նրա հաշվին կար 200 հաղթած մենամարտ:
Past. am-ը ներկայացնում է առաջին կին գլադիատորին:
Նրա ճակատագիրը դժվարին էր, դժվար է պատկերացնել, թե ինչպես է կինը կարողացել նման զրկանքներ կրել:
28-ամյա ապստամբ ստրկուհին միացել էր Սպարտակի ապստամբությանը: Նախ՝ սևահեր գեղեցկուհին բավարարվեց կուրտիզանուհու դերով, քանի որ այդպես հնարավորություն ուներ հետևել Սպարտակի բանակին, սակայն շուտով նա սկսեց տարվել ռազմարվեստով:
Աստիճանաբար նա սովորեց վարվել զենքի հետ ու ծանոթացավ ձեռնամարտի նրբություններին: Լինելով անվախ ու համարձակ՝ նա իր տեղը գտավ զինվորական շարքերում ու սկսեց մենամարտել տղամարդկանց հետ հավասար:
Նախկին ստրուկների համար ճակատագրական եղավ Ք.ծ.ա. 71 թվականի ճակատամարտը, որտեղ Սպարտակը սպանվեց, իսկ նրանց ուժերը ջախջախվեցին, իսկ Գերարդեսկան պատանդ ընկավ Կրասոսի մոտ:
Նա խնայեց Գերարդեսկայի կյանքը ու որոշեց, որ նա պետք է մասնակցի գլադիատորական մարտերին: 
Դժվար է ասել, թե որն էր Կրասոսի որոշման պատճառը՝ կնոջը ուղարկելով մարտարվեստի հմտություններին տիրապետելու:
Նրա ուսուցումը կարճ տևեց: Ամբոխը ամեն անգամ խելագարվում էր, երբ կիսամերկ ռազմիկ կինը հայտնվում էր արենայում: Յուրաքանչյուր մարտ դաժան էր: Հաջողությունը նրան ուղեկցեց 11 ամիս, հաջողությունը մեկ անգամ միայն դավաճանեց երկու գաճաճների դեմ պայքարում:
Ցավից գալարվող կինը խնդրեց իրեն համաներել, սակայն ամբոխը նրա խնդրանքին պատասխանեց ներքև իջեցրած մատերով:
Նրա մարմինը մասնատվեց ու նետվեց նկուղ, որտեղ պահվում էին այդ օրը սպանվածների մարմինները:
Հռոմեական ամբոխի սերը փոփոխական էր: Գերարդեսկան հիացնում էր մարդկանց այնքան
Նրա մահից հետո կանացի մարտերը սկսեցին մեծ հաջողություն վայելել:
