Այս պահին ես պառկած եմ հիվանդի մահճակալին ու, հետ նայելով իմ ապրած կյանքին, ես հասկանում եմ, որ ամբողջ ճանաչումն ու հարստությունը, որով ես այդպես հպարտանում էի, կորցրել են իրենց նշանակությունը վերահաս մահվան առաջ:
Մթության մեջ, երբ ես նայում եմ կենսաապահովման սարքերի կանաչ լույսին ու լսում մեխանիկական բութ ձայնը, մահվան շունչն ավելի մոտիկից եմ զգում:
Այժմ ես գիտեմ, որ երբ մենք բավականաչափ հարստություն ենք կուտակում, մենք պետք է բոլորովին այլ հարցեր տանք կյանքում, որոնք կապված չեն հարստության հետ…
Պետք է լինի մի բան, որը ավելի կարևոր է. միգուցե հարաբերությունները, արվեստը, միգուցե երիտասարդության երազանքները…
Հարստության անդադար ձեռքբերումները մարդուն խամաճիկ են դարձնում, ինչպես և պատահեց իմ դեպքում:
Աստված մեզ զգացմունքներ է տվել, որպեսզի մեր սերը փոխանցենք յուրաքանչյուր սրտին, և հարստության մասին ոչ մի պատրանք չպետք է լինի:
Հարստությունը, որը ես ձեռք եմ բերել կյանքի ընթացքում, ես չեմ կարող ինձ հետ վերցնել:
Այն, ինչ ես կարող եմ վերցնել, միայն սիրո առաջացրած հիշողություններն են:
Ահա իրական հարստությունը, որը պետք է հետևի Ձեզ, ուղեկցի Ձեզ, ուժ և լույս տա՝ առաջ շարժվելու համար:
Սերը կարող է հազարավոր մղոններ ճամփորդել: Կյանքը սահմաններ չի ճանաչում: Գնացեք այնտեղ, ուր ցանկանում եք գնալ: Հասեք այն բարձունքներին, որոնց ուզում եք հասնել: Այս ամենը Ձեր սրտում ու Ձեր ձեռքերում է:
Ո՞րն է աշխարհի ամենաթանկ մահճակալը. «հիվանդ մարդու մահճակալը»…
Դուք կարող եք որևէ մեկին աշխատանքի ընդունել՝ Ձեր փոխարեն մեքենա վարելու համար, գումար աշխատելու
Ձեզ համար, սակայն ոչ ոք Ձեր փոխարեն չի կրի Ձեր հիվանդությունները:
Նյութական առարկաները, որոնք մենք կորցրել ենք, կարող են գտնվել, սակայն կա մի բան, որը երբեք չես գտնի, եթե կորցնես, այն «կյանքն» է:
Երբ մարդը հասնում է վիրահատական սենյակին, հասկանում է, որ կա մի գիրք, որը նա մինչև այսօր չի ավարտել կարդալ. «առողջ կյանքի գիրքը»:
Կարևոր չէ՝ կյանքի որ փուլում ենք գտնվում հենց այս պահին, մենք բոլորս էլ կհասնենք այն օրվան, երբ վարագույրը կիջնի:
