1. Բիլլ Սթոունհեմի «Ձեռքերը պաշտպանում են նրան» («Hands Resist Him») նկարն իրական սկանդալ առաջացրեց: Նկարիչն այն նկարել էր իր մանկական հին նկարից:
Առաջինն, ով տեսել էր նկարը, «Լոս Անջելես Թայմսի» սեփականատերն էր, ով դրանից որոշ ժամանակ անց մահացել էր: Հետո այն պատկանել է դերասան Ջոն Մառլիին: Նրա մահից հետո նկարը գտել էին աղբանոցում: Որոշ ժամանակ այն գտնվում էր նկարը գտած ընտանիքի մոտ: Երեխայի հայրը որոշում է սենյակում տեսախցիկ և շարժման սենսոր դնել և, թեև ուղղակիորեն ապշեցուցիչ է, բայց այն բազմաթիվ անգամներ աղդանշան էր տվել: Երբ նկարը աճուրդի էին հանել, սրահի ադմինիստրատորները սկսել էին բողոքներով լի նամակներ ստանալ:
2. Վատ համբավ ունի նաև Վլադիմիր Լուկիչ Բորովիկովսկու Լոպուխինայի դիմանկարը: Նկարը նկարելուց մեկ տարի անց բնորդուհին մահացավ տուբերկուլոզից:
3. Սա իմպրեսիոնիստ Կլոդ Մոնեի ջրային լիլիաների նկարն է: Աշխատանքի ավարտից հետո նրա արհեստանոցում հրդեհ բռնկվեց: Երբ այն մեկ ամիս գտնվում էր Մոնմարտի կաբարեներից մեկում, տարածքն ամբողջովին այրվեց: Նույն ճակատագրին արժանացավ Օսկար Շմիտցի տունը նկարը գնելուց մեկ տարի հետո: 1958թ.-ին նկարը տեղափոխեցին Նյու Յորքի արվեստի թանգարան, և կրկին հրդեհ…
4. Էդվարդ Մունկի հանրահայտ «Ճիչը» նկարը չի ներում վիրավորանքները: Թանգարանի աշխատակիցներից մեկը հանկարծակի վայր էր գցել նկարը, որից հետո նրա մոտ սկսեցին գլխացավերը: Աշխատողը չդիմացավ և շուտով ինքնասպանություն գործեց:
Մի անգամ այցելուներից մեկն ուղղակի մատով դիպել էր նկարին, և նույն օրը նրա տանը հրդեհ բռնկվեց:
5. Փիթեր Բրեյգել Ավագը (Հոլանդիա) նկարել է «Առաքյալների սերունդը»: Մարիամ Աստվածածնին նկարիչը նկարել էր իր քրոջ կերպարով, ով չբեր էր: Եվ ամեն անգամ, երբ կոլեկցիոներները գնում էին այս նկարը, իրենց ընտանիքներում երեխաներ չէին ծնվում:
6. «Լացող տղան» նկարի հեղինակը պատկերված տղայի հայրն էր: Փորձելով ավելի իրատեսական տեսք ստանալ` հայրը տղայի դեմքի առջև լուցկի էր վառում, քանի որ երեխան շատ էր վախենում կրակից: Տղան լաց էր լինում, հայրը նկարում էր: Մի պահ երեխան, սակայն, չի դիմանում և բղավում է հոր վրա. «Ինքդ վառվիր»: Մեկ ամիս անց տղան մահացավ թոքերի բորբոքումից: Իսկ երկու շաբաթ անց գտնվեց նրա հոր վառված մարմինը` հրդեհից փրկված լացող տղայի նկարի կողքին:
