ԱՄՆ գիտնականները Պրավին Ռադժենդրանի ղեկավարությամբ պարզել են, որ խաչածաղկավորների մեջ պարունակվող սուլֆթրֆանը կարող է պաշտպանել քաղցկեղից և ուժեղացնել ուռուցքների դեմ նախատեսված միջոցների ազդեցությունը: Այս նյութի մեծ քանակություն պարունակվում է թարմ բրոկոլիում, բայց այն կա նաև ծաղկակաղամբում և բրյուսելյան կաղամբում:
Գիտնականներն իրականացրել են հետազոտություն, որպեսզի պարզեն արդյոք սուլֆորաֆանի մեծ քանակությամբ բանջարեղենի օգտագործումը կանդրադառնա տարեց մարդկանց առողջության վրա: Հետազոտություններին մասնակցել են 28 մարդ: Նրանց տարիքը 50-ից բարձր էր: Նախապես մասնակիցները անցել են հաստ աղիքի բիոպսիա:
Արդյունքում պարզվել է, որ շատ բրոկոլի և այլ մուգ կանաչ բանջարեղեն օգտագործող մարդկանց մոտ p16 սպիտակուցի շատ ավելի բարձր էր, քան նրանց մոտ, ովքեր դիետա էին պահում:
Հայտնի է, որ սուլֆորաֆոնը ամբողջությամբ դուրս է գալիս օրգանզմից այն օգտագործելուց 24 ժամ հետո, սակայն p16-ի բարձր աստիճան հայտնաբերվել էր նաև այն մարդկանց մոտ, ովքեր ամեն օր չէին օգտագործում այդ բանջարեղենները:
Այսպիսով գիտնականները պարզել են, որ բրոկոլիի հաճախակի օգտագործումը կարող է օգնել կանխարգելել ուռուցքի առաջացումը:
