Ջո Բայդենը պետք է վճռական դիրքորոշում ընդունի՝ Էրդողանի հետ հարաբերությունները կարգավորելու համար

ԱՄՆ նորընտիր նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը պետք է վճռական դիրքորոշում ընդունի, եթե հույս ունի շտկել հարաբերությունները իր թուրք գործընկեր Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի հետ: Այս մասին ասել է Սիրիայում ԱՄՆ հեռացող դեսպան Ջեյմս Ջեֆրին:
Al Monitor-ին տված հարցազրույցում Ջեֆրին ասել է. «Էրդողանը չի նահանջի, քանի դեռ նրան ցույց չեք տվել ձեր ատամները: Դա հենց այն է, ինչ մենք արեցինք, երբ 2019-ի հոկտեմբերին համաձայնության եկանք զինադադարի շուրջ: Մենք պատրաստ էինք ջախջախել տնտեսությունը»:
ԱՄՆ-ը անցյալ տարվա վերջին սպառնացել էր պատժամիջոցներ կիրառել Թուրքիայի նկատմամբ, եթե չդադարեցնի հարձակումները Սիրիայի հյուսիս-արեւելքում քրդերի կողմից գլխավորվող ուժերի վրա: Ի վերջո, Թուրքիան դադարեցրեց իր առաջխաղացումը:
Թուրքական ռազմական գործողությունը տեղի ունեցավ այն բանից հետո, երբ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Թրամփը հրաման տվեց զորքերը դուրս բերել Սիրիայի հյուսիս-արեւելքից՝ որոշում, որն, ըստ Ջեֆրիի, կայացվել էր Էրդողանի հետ խոսակցություններից հետո։
«Թրամփին դուր չէին գալիս այս (քրդերի գլխավորությամբ) ուժերը, եւ նա վստահում էր Էրդողանին»,- ասել է Ջեֆրին:
Քրդական ուժերին համակրող քննադատները Ջեֆրիին մեղադրել էին խմբավորման վրա պատերազմական հանցագործությունների, այդ թվում՝ էթնիկական զտումների հանգեցրած թուրքական հարձակման համար հող նախապատրաստելու մեջ: Բայց Ջեֆրին ասել է, թե ինքը ձգտում է հասնել «կենսունակ փոխզիջման»՝ հակամարտությունից խուսափելու համար: «Քրդերը միշտ փորձել են ստիպել մեզ ձեւացնել, թե մենք իրենց պաշտպանելու ենք թուրքական բանակից... Թուրքերին պատասխանելու ծրագիր չի եղել: Դա առաքելության մաս չէր կազմում: Ամերիկացի զինվորականները հրաման չունեին կրակելու թուրքերի վրա, որոնք կարող էին պարզապես շրջանցել նրանց»:
Այնուամենայնիվ, Ջեֆրին ասել է, որ Թուրքիայի հետ համաձայնության գալը կարեւոր նշանակություն ունի ԱՄՆ շահերի համար՝ Ռուսաստանի եւ Իրանի դեմ պայքարում:
«ՆԱՏՕ-ի ռադարը, որը Իրանից պաշտպանվող ՀՀՊ ամբողջ համակարգի առանցքն է, տեղակայված է Թուրքիայում: Մենք այնտեղ հսկայական ռազմական ունեցվածք ունենք: Առանց Թուրքիայի մենք իսկապես չենք կարող «շրջանցել» Մերձավոր Արեւելքը, Կովկասը կամ Սեւ ծովը: Եվ Թուրքիան Ռուսաստանի ու Իրանի բնական թշնամին է»:
