Կանադացի գիտնականները կրկին ուսումնասիրել են երկարակյացների մասին հավաստի տվյալները եւ եկել այն եզրակացության, որ մարդու կյանքի վերին սահմանը առնվազն 130 տարի է, իսկ հնարավոր է, հասնում է 180 տարվա: Իսկ որոշ դեպքերում, ինչպես ցույց է տալիս վիճակագրական վերլուծությունը, վերին սահման ընդհանրապես չկա, գրում է HighTech+-ը։
Հեղինակները վիճում են 19-րդ դարի բրիտանացի բանահավաք եւ ժողովրդագիր Ուիլյամ Ջոն Թոմսի հետ, ով պնդում էր, որ կյանքի տեւողությունը կախված չէ ոչ սովորություններից, ոչ սննդի որակից, ոչ սոցիալական կանոննորից, քանի որ երկարակեցությունը հանդիպում է տարբեր կենսակերպով տարբեր մշակույթներում: Իսկ կյանքի ծայրահեղ տեւողության շատ դեպքեր կարելի է բացատրել սխալներով կամ խաբեությամբ, գրում է Knowable ամսագիրը։
Մարդկային կյանքի տեւողության սահմանը հետաքրքիր եւ բաց հարց է։ Կան ավելի քան մեկ տասնյակ փաստագրված սուպերերկարակյացներ, ովքեր ապրել են մինչեւ 110 տարեկան, իսկ ֆրանսուհի Ժաննա Կալմանը մահացել է 122 տարեկանում: Տարիքային շեմի առկայությունը կամ բացակայությունը կարեւոր է սոցիալական ապահովագրության եւ պետությունների կենսաթոշակային համակարգի համար, ինչպես նաեւ կարող է գիտնականներին ուղղորդել դեպի կյանքի երկարաձգման նոր մեթոդներ։
Որոշ դեպքերում մարդու կյանքի տեւողության մասին հակասական տեղեկատվությունը առաջանում է վիճակագրական վերլուծության ոչ ճիշտ մեթոդներից, պնդում են Մոնրեալի HEC համալսարանի գիտնականները: 50 տարեկանից սկսած մահվան ռիսկը տարեցտարի ավելանում է։ Բայց մոտ 80 տարեկանից այն սկսում է դանդաղել։ Ռիսկի ֆունկցիայի փոփոխությունները նկարագրող հավասարումները ցույց են տալիս, որ 105-ից 110 տարեկանում այն հավասարվում է: Սա նշանակում է, որ ավելի երիտասարդ տարիքային խմբերից ստացված հավասարումները հարմար չեն կյանքի տեւողության սահմանները գնահատելու համար: Ճիշտ վերլուծությունը պահանջում է 105 եւ բարձր տարիքի մարդկանց վիճակագրության հավաքագրում:
Այս տարիքային խմբի վերլուծությունը ցույց է տվել, որ մոտ 110 տարեկանից յուրաքանչյուր հաջորդ տարում մահվան հավանականությունը 50% է, ինչպես տղամարդկանց, այնպես էլ կանանց համար։ Կախված տվյալների նրբություններից՝ հավանական տեւողության սահմանը տատանվում է 130-ից մինչեւ 180 տարի: Իսկ որոշ դեպքերում վերին սահման ընդհանրապես չկա։ Այլ կերպ ասած, մաթեմատիկորեն մարդիկ կարող են անմահ լինել։
Ընդ որում՝ հեղինակներն ընդգծում են, որ վերացական թվերի աշխարհն ու իրականությունը նույնը չեն։ «Կյանքի գոյություն ունեցող յուրաքանչյուր ձեւ եղել է եւ միշտ կլինի վերջավոր»,- ասվում է հետազոտության մեջ, «հետեւաբար պահանջում է մաթեմատիկական ճշմարտությունների մանրակրկիտ թարգմանություն առօրյա կյանքի լեզվով»:
