«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Ջրային դահուկներ ստեղծելու միտքը ծագել է 20-րդ դարի սկզբին, ընդ որում՝ ամերիկացի երեք էնտուզիաստների գլխում գրեթե միաժամանակ։ 1922 թվականին Ռալֆ Սամուելսոնն է որոշել սովորական դահուկները օգտագործել ջրային սահքի համար։ Նա դահուկները սարքավորել է հատուկ ամրակներով, որոնք ամրացրել են դահուկները ոտքերին, որից հետո էլ դրանք հաջողությամբ փորձարկել է ջրի վրա։ Դահուկների լայնությունը մեծացնելով՝ հնարավոր է եղել հասնել առավելագույն կայունության։ Երեք տարի անց Ռալֆը նաև ցատկահարթակ է հորինել և ջրադահուկներով կատարել առաջին ցատկերը։ Նա նաև եղել է առաջինը, որ ջրադահուկները պարանով ամրացրել է ինքնաթիռին և իրականացրել ջրասահք։

1925 թվականին Ֆրեդ Ուոլերը, չիմանալով Ռալֆի գյուտի մասին, արտոնագիր է ստացել իր հորինած «Դելֆին» կոչվող սոճեփայտյա ջրադահուկների համար։ Իսկ 1928 թվականին Դոն Իբսենը, բացարձակ տեղյակ չլինելով նախորդ երկու գյուտերի մասին, հորինել է դահուկների իր տարբերակը, որը նախատեսված էր ջրի մակերևույթին սահելու համար։ Այս բոլորից հետո նորահայտ հոբբին՝ ջրադահուկներով սահելը, սկսել է ժողովրդականություն ձեռք բերել՝ գրավելով ավելի ու ավելի շատ մարդկանց: Հետագայում դա հոբբիից վերածվել է սպորտի: Իսկ սպորտն էլ հենց կանխորոշել է ջրադահուկների հետագա կատարելագործման ընթացքը: Ջրադահուկների առաջին մրցումներին մասնակցել են միայն տղամարդիկ։ Մարզիկները կատարել են ուղիղ գծով սերտորեն նշագրված տարածությունը հաղթահարելու երեք փորձ:

1920-ական թվականներին ԱՄՆում հայտնվել է ջրային դահուկավազքի առաջին ազգային ֆեդերացիան։ Իսկ 1946 թվականին Շվեյցարիայում ստեղծվել է այդ մարզաձևի միջազգային ֆեդերացիան։ Սկսել են ձևավորվել ջրային դահուկավազքի դիսցիպլինները, որոնցից յուրաքանչյուրի համար էլ ստեղծվել են հատուկ ջրադահուկներ։ Եթե առաջին ջրադահուկները հիմնականում փայտից են եղել, ապա ավելի թեթև ժամանակակիցները, որոնք ունեն սահքի բարձր մակարդակ, պատրաստվում են պոլիուրետինային փրփուրից։

Ջրադահուկային սպորտի դիսցիպլինների անվանումները նման են լեռնադահուկային սպորտի անվանումներին:Առաջինը ազատ ոճն է կամ գեղասահքը: Երկրորդը սլալոմն է՝ շարժումը կանխորոշված գծանշումների երկայնքով: Երրորդը դահուկային ցատկն է, որի համար օգտագործվում են կոր քթերով, ավելի երկար դահուկներ։Գեղասահքի համար մասնակիցը օգտագործում է կոր ծայրերով կարճ, լայն դահուկներ, քանի որ մարզիկները 20 վայրկյան ժամանակահատվածում կատարում են տարբեր տրյուկներ, շրջադարձեր, կողային սահում։ Սլալոմում օգտագործվում է հետևից նեղացած և առջևում կոր մեկ կամ երկու դահուկ։ Ջրադահուկորդին քաշող նավակի արագությունը ստանդարտ է: Կանանց համար այն 45 կմ/ժ է, տղամարդկանց համար՝ 57 կմ/ժ։ Ցատկահարթակներն ունեն բարձրության սահմանափակում՝ կանանց համար՝ 1,5 մ, տղամարդկանց համար՝ 1,8 մ։
