Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտման կուրսը, մեղադրանքի սլաքները դեպի Ռուսաստան տեղափոխելու՝ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի ջանքերը պայմանավորված են Ռուսաստանից նրա ունեցած վախից։ Վերջին շրջանում ՌԴ պաշտոնյաների հետ շփման երկու դրվագ է եղել։ Առաջինը Պուտին-Փաշինյան հեռախոսազրույցն էր, որտեղ, ըստ ռուսական աղբյուրների, Փաշինյան Նիկոլը փորձել էր «կռուտիտ» անել, թե ԵՄ հետ փաստաթուղթ ստորագրելը, ԱՄՆ հետ ռազմավարական գործակցության փաստաթուղթը Ռուսաստանի դեմ չեն։ Բավական կոշտ խոսակցություն է եղել Պուտինի հետ, ՌԴ նախագահը պարզապես հայհոյել է, հայտնել, որ իրենց հետախուզությունը տեղյակ է, որ Փաշինյանը պարբերաբար փակ կապով խորհրդակցում է MI6-ի ղեկավար Ռիչարդ Մուրի հետ։ Պուտինը սպառնացել է, որ երբ Միրզոյանը գա Լավրովի հետ հանդիպմանը, բոլոր պատասխանները պետք է տա։

Լավրովի հետ Միրզոյանի հանդիպումը գրեթե երեք ժամ է տևել։ Ընդ որում, Միրզոյանը փորձել է նույն կռուտիտներով համոզել, որ Արևմուտքի հետ շփումների ակտիվացումը որևէ մեկի դեմ չէ։ Խոսակցությունը կրկին անցել է կոշտ տոների մեջ, հարց են դրել՝ կամ այն կողմ եք, կամ այն կողմ։ Լավրովը բաց տեքստով ասել է, որ տեղյակ են պահեստային օդանավակայանների, արտերկիր փախչելու՝ ՀՀ գործող իշխանությունների պլանների շուրջ բանակցությունների մասին, որ ֆորս-մաժորի դեպքում կարողանան փախչել։ Լավրովը բաց տեքստով ասել է, որ կգտնեն աշխարհի ցանկացած վայրում։

Միրզոյանը որպես ծեծ ուտելու, տարբեր պատմությունների փորձ ունեցող, նաև անձնապես է վախեցած։ Այդ զրույցներից հետո Փաշինյանը կրկին պատեպատ է զարկվում, և փրկության միակ տարբերակ տեսնում է Էրդողանին։ Ալիևի հետ այլևս հույսեր չեն կապում, քանի որ նա Փաշինյանի ու իր թիմի վրա գործեր է հավաքում, այդ թվում՝ Բաքվի դատարանում ցուցմունքներ կորզելով։ Եվ այժմ Փաշինյանը համարում է, որ դա կարող է խանգարել իրեն դրսում ապաստան տալու հարցում։ Փորձում է սիրաշահել Էրդողանին, նրա միջոցով անձնական երաշխիքներ ստանալ։
