Հայ-վրացական հարաբերությունները վերջին շրջանում բավականին լուրջ ճգնաժամ են ապրում։ Վրաստանը նախօրեին արգելել է Հայաստանից սեզոնային ծաղիկների խոշոր խմբաքանակի՝ 10 հազար ծաղկի ներմուծումը։ Վրաստանի ֆինանսների նախարարության եկամուտների ծառայությունը հայտնել է, թե վրաց հայկական սահմանի «Սադախլո» անցակետում իրականացված ստուգումների ժամանակ վրացի մաքսավորները բույսերում կարանտինային վնասատու են հայտնաբերել։ Նշել են, թե վարակված արտադրանքը կվերադարձվի Հայաստան։

Վերջին շրջանում սա առաջին դեպքը չէ։ Մեկ ամսից ավելի է հայկական կոնյակ գինի արտահանողներն են դժգոհում Վրաստանի տարածքում իրականացվող անհարկի ստուգումներից և խոչընդոտներից, ինչի հետևանքով դեպի Ռուսաստան և այլ երկրներ ուղևորվող բեռնատարները շաբաթներով մնում են վրացական մաքսակետերում։

Հայաստանի էկոնոմիկայի նախարարը հաղորդել էր, թե պատրաստվում է հարցը քննարկել Վրաստանի գյուղնախարարի Երևան կատարելիք այցի ժամանակ, բայց երեկ վերջին պահին պարզվել է, որ Վրաստանի գյուղատնտեսության նախարարը Հայաստան չի ժամանելու։

Բնականաբար տնտեսական բաղադրիչից բացի, այս ամենում նաև քաղաքական խնդիրներ կան, և վրացական կողմի քաղաքականությունը վկայում է, որ հայ-վրացական հարաբերություններում ամեն ինչ չէ, որ հարթ է, ի հեճուկս վերջերս կնքված ռազմավարական գործընկերության պայմանագրի։ Ցանկացած պարագայում պաշտոնական Թբիլիսի այս վարքը բխում է Հայաստանի գործող իշխանությունների անողնաշար պահվածքից։ Եթե նույնիսկ վրացական կողմն այս ամենն անում է ուրիշի դրդմամբ, Հայաստանի իշխանությունները պարտավոր են ձեռք մեկնել իրենց արտադրողներին, հարցերը քննարկել հենց վրացիների հետ, փորձել գալ ընդհանուր հայտարարի։ Հակառակ պարագայում պարբերաբար նման խնդիրներ են ծագելու, հայկական կողմն էլ ապտակ է ստանալու հարևանների կողմից։ Արդյունքում երկրի հեղինակությունը կրկին գետնին է հավասարվում՝ փաշինյանական իշխանության անողնաշարության պատճառով։
