Հայաստանը վաղուց անկախ դատական համակարգ չունի, բայց կան դատավորներ, որոնք իրենց իշխանահաճությամբ, ապօրինություններ դակելու պատրաստակամությամբ գերազանցում են բոլորին։ Վերջին տարիներին այդպիսի դատավոր դարձել է ոմն Մասիս Մելքոնյանը, ով բազմաթիվ ընդդիմադիր գործիչների է կալանավորել կեղծ մեղադրանքներով և իշխանության հրահանգներով։ Այսօր էլ Մելքոնյանը գիշերը հրապարակել է «Սրբազան պայքար» շարժման առաջնորդ Բագրատ Սրբազանին 2 ամսով կալանավորելու որոշումը։

Մելքոնյանն իշխանությանը կցված «Հանրապետություն» կուսակցության քաղխորհրդի անդամ է եղել, մասնակցել 2021 թվականի արտահերթ խորհրդարանական ընտրություններին, եղել այդ կուսակցության ցուցակի 14-րդ համարը։ 2023 թ․-ին նա դարձել է դատավոր, ընդ որում ոչ թե նշանակվել է, այլ պաշտոնը ստանձնել է իրավունքի ուժով։

Չնայած Կոռուպցիայի կանխարգելման հանձնաժողովի բացասական եզրակացությանը, ԲԴԽ-ն կոնսենսուսով կողմ էր քվեարկել նրա թեկնածությանը։ Նույնիսկ նախագահի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնող Վահագն Խաչատուրյանը, որ անմռունչ դակում է իշխանության բոլոր որոշումները, չէր ստորագրել հրամանագիրը՝ պատճառաբանելով, որ Մասիս Մելքոնյանն անցնում է քրեական գործով, դերասանուհի Մարջան Ավետիսյանը տխրահռչակ այս դատավորին մեղադրում էր իր գումարները յուրացնելու մեջ։

Դառնալով դատավոր, Մելքոնյանն անմիջապես անցավ իշխանության բոլոր քմահաճույքները կատարելու գործին։ Տարբեր ժամանակներում նրա որոշումներով կալանավորվել են ընդդիմադիր պատգամավոր Լևոն Քոչարյանը, ՀՅԴ անդամ Վահե Դանիելյանը, ազգային հերոս Տիրան Խաչատրյանը, նա է քննել նաև զոհվածի հոր՝ Գարիկ Գալեյանի գործը և երեկ հենց Մելքոնյանին էին մակագրել Բագրատ Սրբազանի կալանքի որոշումը։

Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն ի սկզբանե ցանկացել էր ապահովագրել իրեն, որոշ դատավորներ երբեմն ինքնուրույնության նշաններ են ցույց տալիս՝ մերժելով իշխանության ներկայացրած կալանքի որոշումները։ Այս պարագայում որևէ այլ զարգացում հնարավոր չէր։ Մելքոնյանին հատուկ են նշանակել, որպեսզի նա անմռունչ կատարի իշխանության հրահանգն ու կալանավորի Բագրատ Գալստանյանին։ Արամ Զավենիչի նախկին կուսակիցն այսօր էլ նրա հետ ջերմ հարաբերությունների մեջ է, իսկ Զավենիչի կուսակցությունն իր բոլոր անդամներով իշխանության ամենակեղտոտ նարատիվները տարածող քաղաքական ուժերից մեկն է, ուստի բոլորովին էլ պետք չէ զարմանալ, որ դարձել են Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի կամակատարները։
