Բան չունեմ ասելու, լավ զինվորականներ, լավ սպաներ շատ ունենք, բայց ցանկալի է, որ մեր բանակի շատ ու շատ սպաներ մի փոքր՝ դույզն իսկ, օրինակ վերցնեն հանճարեղ Նապոլեոնից:
Նապոլեոնը բացի բնատուր ընդունակություններից, հատկապես օժտված էր ևս երկու հատկությամբ, որոնք չափազանց կարևոր նշանակություն ունեն ցանկացած անձի՝ հատկապես սպաների համար. արտասովոր աշխատունակությամբ և բացառիկ տոկունությամբ:
Երիտասարդ տարիներին Նապոլեոնը վեր էր կենում առավոտյան ժամը չորսից ոչ ուշ և անմիջապես սկսում էր աշխատել: Նա գտնում էր, որ յուրաքանչյուր սպա ծառայության մեջ պետք է կարողանա անել այն ամենը, ինչ անում է ամեն մի զինվոր, սկսած ձի լծելուց, և իր գումարտակում նա տալիս էր դրա օրինակները: Զինավարժությունների ժամանակ, իսկ ավելի ուշ՝ արշավանքների ժամանակ նա զինվորների հետ քայլում էր կիզիչ արևի կամ ծակող քամու, սառնամանիքի տակ, դրսևորելով տոկունության օրինակ, երբեք չլքելով իր զինվորներին:
Ի տարբերություն մեր շատ սպաների՝ նույնիսկ բարձրաստիճան, նա զինվորական ուսումնարանի նստարանից սկսած հաղորդակցվում էր ֆրանսիական դասական գրականությանը, համաշխարհային պատմությանը և հետագայում, իր ամբողջ կյանքի ընթացքում զրուցակիցներին զարմացնում էր ֆրանսիական գրականության կորիֆեյների երկերի, պատմական հայտնի դեմքերի կյանքի խոր իմացությամբ: Նա ստեղծագործական-գրական երկերի ստեղծման փորձեր ևս կատարեց՝ նույնիսկ փիլիսոփայական-քաղաքական ոճի, ունենալով որոշակի հաջողություններ:
Նրա այդ հատկություններն էին պատճառը, որ իր կարիերայի սկզբում քսանվեց տարեկան երիտասարդը մի տարում, ամեն ինչի կարիք ունեցող, սովալլուկ իր փոքրիկ զորախմբով գերմանացիներին հետ մղեց միջերկրածովյան ափերից, իր այդ հաղթանակներով, այդ տարիքում նսեմացրեց Ալեքսանդր Մակեդոնացու, Կեսարի, Հաննիբալի, Ֆրիդրիխ Մեծի զորավարական փառքը:
Նրա արարքների, նրա գործողությունների մեջ նրա զինակիցները, նրա զինվորները հատկապես հարգանքի արժանի մի բան էին տեսնում՝ հայրենիքի օգուտը, բոլորի զգացումը կենտրոնանում էր միայն մի մտքի վրա՝ օգտակար լինել հայրենիքին:
Սա մի սկզբունք է, որով պետք է առաջնորդվեն նաև մեր սպաները, մեր զինվորական ուսումնարանների սաները՝ օգտակար լինեն Հայրենիքին, անձնական օրինակով դաստիարակեն զինվորներին, լինեն անշահախնդիր ու Հայրենիքի նվիրյալ…
