Հայաստանում հաճախակիացել են ճանապարհատրանսպորտային պատահարները։ Գրեթե օր չկա, որ չլսենք որևէ խոշոր պատահարի և զոհերի մասին։ Պատճառներից մեկը մեքենաների ահռելի քանակությունն է։ Վերջին տվյալներով Հայաստանում մոտ 1 միլիոն մեքենա կա, այսինքն՝ յուրաքանչյուր 3 բնակչին 1 մեքենա է բաժին հասնում։

Գործող իշխանությունները, մեր տեղեկություններով, փորձում են կանոնակարգել այս ոլորտը, որպեսզի մեքենաների քանակը հնարավորինս նվազեցնեն։ Մեր աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ՝ ներկայումս քննարկվում է մի նախագիծ, ըստ որի որոշակի տարիքից սկսած այլևս մեքենաների շահագործումը Հայաստանում չի թույլատրվելու։ Նման կարգավորումներ գործում են եվրոպական և ասիական բազմաթիվ երկրներում, ինչպես նաև Միացյալ Նահանգներում։

Ըստ այդմ՝ ՆԳՆ-ն քննարկման է դնելու 10 տարուց ավելի հին մեքենաների շահագործումն արգելելու կամ լավագույն դեպքում միայն որոշակի պայմանների համապատասխանելու պարագայում թույլատրելու նախագիծ։ Քննարկվում է 2 տարբերակ։

Օրինակ՝ Երևանի դեպքում դա կարող է լինել մինչև 10 տարին, մարզերի դեպքում՝ մինչև 15 տարին, ընդ որում օրենքով արգելվելու է հին մեքենաների վարումը Երևանի տարածքում, իսկ ոստիկանությանը հանձնարարվելու է խստիվ հսկողություն իրականացնել։ Նախագիծը դեռևս հում վիճակում է, բայց մինչև խորհրդարանական ընտրություններ ցանկանում են ներկայացնել, իսկ արդեն ընդունել նոր գումարման Ազգային ժողովում՝ աշնանը։
