Զինված ուժերի գլխավոր շտաբի նախկին պետ Օնիկ Գասպարյանը ցայտնոտի մեջ է հայտնվել, երբ նրա հասցեին մեղադրանքներ հնչեցին, այդ թվում՝ պաշտպանության նախկին նախարար Սեյրան Օհանյանի, ապա և ռուսաստանցի «Մեդիա» մագնատ Արամ Գաբրիելյանովի կողմից։ «Հայաստան» խմբակցության ղեկավար Սեյրան Օհանյանը խորհրդարանում Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի ներկայությամբ պնդել էր, որ Արցախի պաշտպանության բանակը 283 կմ պաշտպանության գոտի է ունեցել, որից 265-ը մինչև 2020 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 27-ը պահվել է։ «Այն տարածքով են Ձեր ասած գեներալները փախել, և ես գտնում եմ, որ այդ պատասխանատվությունը հենց Ձեզ վրա է, որովհետև եթե ՊԲ-ն է որոշում ընդունում, հաստատում է Գլխավոր շտաբը կամ Ղարաբաղի նախագահը, իսկ եթե մի քանի զորամիավորում են՝ ՊԲ-ն և մի քանի հայաստանյան զորամիավորումներ, ապա ԳՇ պետն է այնտեղ որոշում ընդունում, և հաստատում եք Դուք։ Ձեր պատասխանատվության գոտիով է Ադրբեջանը շրջանցել, եկել, հասել Շուշի, Բերձոր և ՀՀ սահմաններ՝ Գորիս, Կապան, Մեղրի»,– ասել էր Օհանյանը։

Շատ ավելի ուշագրավ դիտարկում էր արել Արամ Գաբրիելյանովը, թե Մոսկվայում երկու անգամ հանդիպել է Օնիկ Գասպարյանի, որը եղել է չափազանց ընկճված վիճակում։ Ինքը Գասպարյանը, որ տարիներ շարունակ իր համար լռված է եղել, միայն այս մեղադրանքներից հետո առաջարկել է Ազգային ժողովում փակ քննարկում կազմակերպել, որ «պայթեցնի պատերազմի մասին շրջանառվող բոլոր ստերն ու անհարկի շահարկումները»։ Նա նախընտրական այս փուլն է համարում «իրականության հետ առերեսվելու ժամանակը»։ Հայաստանի գործող իշխանությունները բացարձակապես որևէ փակ կամ բաց քննարկում կազմակերպելու ցանկություն չունեն։ Ազգային ժողովի քննիչ հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Անդրանիկ Քոչարյանը հիշեցրել է, որ Գասպարյանը ցուցմունք է տվել հանձնաժողովին և հայտնել իրեն հայտնի բոլոր հանգամանքները, ուստի քննարկում իրականացնելու կարիք չի տեսնում։
