Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոս Գարեգին Երկրորդի այցը Սամվել Կարապետյանին, ինչպես և սպասելի էր, ցնցումներ է առաջացրել գործող իշխանության կազմում։ Փաշինյանը, որը տևական ժամանակ որևէ խոսք չէր ասել Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցու հասցեին, երեկ լրագրողների հետ զրույցում հունից դուրս է եկել, հայտարարել, թե Կտրիճ Ներսիսյանը (այդպես է Փաշինյանը դիմում Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսին) այդ վեղարի տակ արդեն անարգանք է եկեղեցու հասցեին։ Ավելին, շարունակել է, թե կաթողիկոսը վաղուց Հայաստանի դեմ տարվող հիբրիդային պայքարի առաջնորդներից մեկն է։

«Ուղղակի այն տրամաբանությամբ, որ ինքը որոշակի իրեն հատուկ խորամանկությամբ այնպես է անում, որ ինքը ուրիշներին հրահրի, քաջալերի, և ինքը մնա ստվերում՝ իր պաշտպանությունն ապահովելու համար։ Բայց ես կարծում եմ և հույս ունեմ, որ Հայաստանի Հանրապետության ժողովուրդը 2026 թվականի հունիսի 7-ի ընտրությունների արդյունքներով կհանգուցալուծի նաև այս իրավիճակը»,- ասել է Փաշինյանը՝ նկատելով, որ նորություն չէ, որ եկեղեցին քաղաքական դիրքորոշում է արտահայտում․ «Հեղափոխությունից անմիջապես հետո եկեղեցին քաղաքական գործունեությամբ է զբաղված, և դրա դրսևորումները կան»։

Նրա այս հայտարարությունը վկայում է, որ գործող իշխանությունների գլխավոր խնդիրը ոչ թե Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու բարենորոգումն է, այլ այն, որ եկեղեցին ունի քաղաքական նախընտրություններ և այդ մասին հայտնում է առանց այլևայլությունների։ Բնական է՝ Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցին, որ դարեր շարունակ ազգային արժեքները պահպանող գլխավոր ինստիտուտն է եղել, չի կարող համակերպվել այն իրականության հետ, երբ Հայաստանի գործող իշխանությունը պարզապես փորձում է փոշիացնել այդ արժեքները և պայքարում է դրա դեմ՝ իր ունեցած մեթոդներով։ Այդ թվում՝ նաև Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու ամենակարևոր հովանավորներից մեկին խորհրդարանական ընտրություններից առաջ աջակցելով։ Չի բացառվում, որ Փաշինյանը դադարեցնի իր ժամանակավոր մորատորիումը և իր բոլոր սպասարկուներին հանձնարարի կրկին հարձակվել Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոսի դեմ։
