Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լայենը հայտարարել է, որ Եվրամիությունը մտադիր չէ չեղարկել Ռուսաստանի դեմ սահմանված էներգետիկ պատժամիջոցները մինչև Ուկրաինայում հակամարտության դադարեցումը, չնայած ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի վարչակազմի կողմից ռուսական էներգակիրների նկատմամբ սահմանափակումները մեղմելու ուղղությամբ ձեռնարկած քայլերին։
Այս մասին նա ասել է Ստրասբուրգում կայացած Եվրախորհրդարանի լիագումար նիստում:
«Ներկայիս քննարկումների առնչությամբ ցանկանում եմ առավելագույնս հստակ արտահայտվել`այդ պատժամիջոցներն ուժի մեջ կմնան այնքան, մինչև Ռուսաստանը չդադարեցնի պատերազմը», – հայտարարել է ֆոն դեր Լայենը, որի ելույթը հեռարձակվել է Եվրախորհրդարանի YouTube-ի էջում։
Եվրահանձնաժողովի ղեկավարի հայտարարությունները հնչել են Վաշինգտոնի կողմից Ռուսաստանի էներգետիկ հատվածի նկատմամբ սահմանափակումների հարցում մոտեցման փոփոխության ֆոնին։ Թրամփի վարչակազմն ավելի վաղ մեղմացրել էր ռուսական դիզելային վառելիքի մատակարարումների նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցները և կասեցրել Ռուսաստանի դեմ մի շարք նոր սահմանափակումների կիրառումը։
