Հինգ առաջնորդներ դիտարկվում են որպես Ուկրաինայի հարցով Ռուսաստանի հետ Եվրոպայի անունից բանակցողի թեկնածուներ: Այս մասին հայտնել է բրիտանական The Daily Telegraph թերթը՝ հղում անելով աղբյուրներին:
Նշված դերում որպես հավակնորդներ նշվում են Իտալիայի վարչապետ Ջորջա Մելոնին, Ֆինլանդիայի նախագահ Ալեքսանդր Ստուբը, Չեխիայի նախագահ Պետր Պավելը, Նորվեգիայի վարչապետ Յոնաս Գար Ստյորեն և Դանիայի վարչապետ Մետտե Ֆրեդերիկսենը: Նշվում է, որ Եվրոպական խորհրդի նախագահ Անտոնիու Կոշտան հրաժարվել է բանակցողի դիրքից Բրյուսելում վերջերս կայացած հանդիպման ժամանակ:
Ըստ թերթի՝ ՌԴ-ի հետ երկխոսության անհրաժեշտության մասին քննարկումներն ակտիվացել են եվրոպական մայրաքաղաքներում վերջին ամիսներին, քանի որ Հին Աշխարհամասի երկրների առաջնորդները համարում են, որ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը չի ներկայացնում իրենց շահերը:
«Եվրոպան եկել է այն անհրաժեշտության ըմբռնմանը, որ նախևառաջ անհրաժեշտ է համաձայնություն այն հարցի շուրջ, որ մենք պետք է բանակցություններ վարենք ռուսների հետ», - հայտարարել է հրատարակության աղբյուրը: Նա ավելացրել է, որ այժմ «համաձայնություն է պետք այն մասին, թե հստակ ինչումն է կայանում մեր դիրքորոշումը»:
The Daily Telegraph -ի մեկ այլ զրուցակից պատմել է, որ «ամենայն հավանականությամբ, կընտրվի ղեկավարների խումբ» ՌԴ-ի հետ բանակցությունների համար՝ «երկրներիմիջև մրցակցությունից և թեկնածուի վրա վետո դրվելու ռիսկից խուսափելու համար»:
