 Ամերիկայի գավաթի խաղարկությունն ավարտվել է. եզրափակիչում մրցել են Արգենտինայի և Չիլիի հավաքականները: Հանդիպման հիմնական ժամանակն ավարտվել է`0-0 հաշվով: Թիմերը խաղն ավարտել են 11-մետրանոց հարվածներով,  որտեղ հաղթել է Չիլին `4-2 հաշվով:

1-ին խաղակեսը Արգենտինայի հավաքականն սկսել է տարածքային և խաղային մեծ առավելությամբ: Մարտինոյի ֆուտբոլիստներն ամբողջությամբ տիրում էին խաղային և տարածքային առավելությանը: Հենց առաջին րոպեին արգենտինացի հարձակվողի հեռահար հարվածը անցել է դարպասաձողի կողքով: Խաղադաշտում իրավիճակը մի փոքր հանդարտվել է: 21-րդ րոպեին Գոնսալո Իգուաինը հայտնվել է մեն-մենակ դարպասապահի առջև, գնդակն անցկացրել է դարպասապահի վրայով, սակայն անձնուրաց է խաղացել Չիլիի հավաքականի պաշտպանը, և հեռացրել գնդակը ազատ դարպասից: Հաջորդ երկու դրվագներում ֆուտբոլիս տները աչքի են ընկել ոչ կոռեկտ գործողություններով: Նախ կարմիր քարտ է ստացել Չիլիի հավաքականից Մարսելո Դիասը, այնուհետև նույն  բախտին է արժանացել արգենտինացի` Մարկոս Ռոխոն: 1-ին խաղակեսում թիմերը այդպես էլ չեն կարողացել արդյունքի հասնել:

2-րդ կեսն սկսվել է համեմատաբար ավելի պասիվ և պաշտպանողական ֆուտբոլով: Շուրջ 35 րոպե խաղադաշտում ոչ մի առանձնահատուկ գործողություն չի նկատվել: Միայն 80-րդ րոպեին Չիլիի հավաքականը ստացել է 1-ին հնարավորությունը դարպասը գրավելու: Էդուարդո Վարգասի հարվածից հետո գնդակը չի նհայտնվել Արգենտինայի դարպասում: Արգենտինացիները պատասխանել են 84-րդ րոպեին: Սերխիո Ագուերոն նպաստավոր դիրքից կրկին վրիպել է: 2-րդ խաղակեսն էլ խաղադաշտում հաղթողին չի որոշել:

Թիմերը խաղը տեղափոխել են լրացուցիչ ժամանակ: Այստեղ կրկին ավելի ակտիվ էին արգենտինացիները: Չիլիի հավաքականը ակնհայտորեն ցանկանում էր խաղը հասցնել 11-մետրանոց հարվածների: Արգենտինայի միակ վտանգավոր գրոհը եղել է 109-րդ րոպեին, երբ Մեսին գնդակն ուղարկել է տուգանային հրապարակ, որտեղ Ագուերոն կրկին վրիպել է: Թիմերը խաղը շարունակել են 11-մետրանոց հարվածներով, որտեղ Մեսին ու Լուկաս Բիլիան` Արգենտինային զրկել են չեմպիոն դառնալու հնարավությունից: Չիլին վստահ է գործել և հաղթել հարվածաշարում` 4-2 հաշվով: Ամերիկայի գավաթի խաղարկությունը ավարտվել է, իսկ Լիոնել Մեսին հայտարարել է հավաքականից հեռանալու մասին:
