 Հայաստանի շախմատի հավաքականը հոկտեմբերի վերջից կնախապատրաստվի Եվրոպայի թիմային առաջնությանը: Շախմատի տղամարդկանց հավաքականը վերջին անգամ Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն է դարձել 1999 թվականին:  Դրանից հետո երեք անգամ դարձել է շախմատային օլիմպիադաների չեմպիոն, մեկ անգամ էլ աշխարհի թիմային առաջնության հաղթող:

«Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում հավաքականի անդամ Գաբրիել Սարգսյանը խոսեց հավաքականի հնարավորությունների, իր մարզավիճակի մասին:

-Օրեր առաջ ես վերադարձել Մեծ Բրիտանիայում անցկացվող մրցաշարից: Կիսեցիր 1-3 տեղերը: Ինչպե՞ս անցավ մրցաշարը:

-Մրցաշարը բավականին լավ անցավ և հավաքել էր ուժեղ  կազմ: Այն համարվում է մեր ժամանակների ուժեղագույն մրցաշարերից մեկը: Ես կիսեցի առաջին-երրորդ տեղերը: Իհարկե, սա մեծ հաջողություն է ինձ համար: Ես կասեմ, որ իմ կարիերայի մեծ հաջողություններից մեկն է:

-Իսկ մինչ այդ մրցաշարը Բաքվում մասնակցեցիր աշխարհի գավաթի խաղարկությանը: Ինչ տվեց քեզ զուտ մարզական առումով:

-Աշխարհի գավաթի խաղարկությունն ընդհանուր առմամբ շատ բարդ մրցաշար է: Ես մինչ այս երկու անգամ էլ եմ մասնակցել, երկու անգամն էլ առաջին տուրից դուրս եմ մնացել: Այս անգամ հաջողվեց առաջին տուրում հաղթել, բայց այնտեղ բոլոր շախմատիստներն են ուժեղ: Առաջին շրջանում խաղում էի իմ ուժերին համապատասխան շախմատիստի հետ, իսկ երկրորդում արդեն բավականին ուժեղ Լագրավի հետ: Նա Լևոն Արոնյանի մակարդակի շախմատիստ է: Եթե ինձ հաջողվեր նրան հաղթել, ապա հանրության համար իսկապես անակնկալ կլիներ:

-Նոյեմբերին հավաքականը կմասնակցի շախմատի Եվրոպայի թիմային առաջնությանը: Մենք 1999 թվականից ի վեր չեմպիոն չենք դարձել: Ինչո՞ւ չիստացվում:

-Եթե անկեղծ լինենք, շատ բարդ է հստակ պատասխան տալ: Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում մենք կարողանում ենք հաջող ելույթներ ունենալ: Մեզ հաջողվել է 3 անգամ 4-րդ հորիզոնականը զբաղեցնել: Այնպես չի եղել, որ ձախողել ենք առաջնությունը, ոչ: Այս անգամ հավաքականը պետք է պայքարի առաջին տեղի համար Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում: Թեպետ սպորտում չեն ասում բախտ, բայց ինչ-որ տեղ նաև բախտներս չի բերել այդ առաջնություններում:  Լիահույս եմ, որ այս տարի մեջ վերջապես կհաջողվի հաղթել Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում;

-Ովքե՞ր են Եվրոպայի այս առաջնության ֆավորիտները:

-Եթե հաշվի առնենք, որ չկան ԱՄՆ-ն և Չինաստանը, ապա գրեթե նույն թիմերը՝ Ռուսաստան, Ադրբեջան: Բավականին ուժեղ թիմ է հավաքել Անգլիան, թեպետ անհատական պայքարում անգլիացիներն այդքան էլ ուժեղ չեն, բայց թիմով հաջող են հանդես գալիս:

-Մեր հավաքականը հանդես է գալու այն նո՞ւյն կազմով, որով մասնակցեց Ծաղկաձորում անցկացված աշխարհի թիմային առաջնությանը:

-Նույն թիմով ենք, բայց Վլադիմիր Հակոբյանի փոխարեն հանդես կգա Հայաստանի այս տարվա չեմպիոն Կարեն Գրիգորյանը:
