Փոքր ափսեները կարող են օգնել ավելի քիչ եւ գիտակցաբար ուտել եւ նիհարել, տեղեկացնում են Քեմբրիջի համալսարանի մասնագետները: 

Նրանք ուսումնասիրել են  61 գիտական աշխատանքից ստացված տվյալները, որոնց   6711 մարդ է մասնակցել: Այդ անալիզը ցույց է տվել, որ սեղան նստելով` մարդիկ հաճախ ուտում եւ խմում են այնքան, որքան իրենց առաջարկում են: Եթե սնունդը մատուցվում է մեծ չափաբաժինների տեսքով` խոշոր ափսեներում, այն ինքնաբերաբար կլանվում է, նույնիսկ եթե սովորաբար մարդն ավելի քիչ է ուտում:  

«Մարդիկ միշտ ավելի շատ են ուտում եւ խմում, եթե իրենց ավելի մեծ բաժիններ են առաջարկում եւ սնունդը մատուցում են մեծ սպասքով ` ափսեներով եւ բաժակներով », - ասել են աշխատանքի հեղինակները:

Գիտնականները համոզված են, որ եթե մեծ ափսեները փոխարինվեն  փոքրերով, հնարավոր կլինի ավելի արդյունավետ կերպով վերահսկել սննդի ընդունումը եւ շատակերություն թույլ չտալ:  Հետազոտության արդյունքներն այն մասին են վկայում, որ երբ մեծ սպասքից օգտվող մարդիկ անցնում են ավելի փոքր ափսեների, դա անխուսափելիորեն հանգեցնում է օրական օգտագործվող կալորիաների նվազման:   Մասնավորապես` Մեծ Բրիտանիայում փորձարկումների ընթացքում ափսերի չափերի փոփոխությունն օգնում էր սննդի կալորիականությունը նվազեցնել միջինը  12-16 տոկոսով (մոտ 279 կիլոկալորիա), իսկ ԱՄՆ-ում` 22-29 տոկոսով (մոտ 526 կիլոկալորիա): Ընդ որում, ինչպես ընդգծում են հեղինակները, տվյալ ազդեցությունը կախված չէր սեռից, մարմնի զանգվածի ինդեքսից, քաղցածության աստիճանից եւ մարդկանց ինքնավերահսկողության մակարդակից: 

«Սովորաբար չափից շատ ուտելու եւ ճարպակալման մեղքը վերագրում են մարդու բնավորության առանձնահատկություններին, սակայն մեր եզրահանգումները մատնանշում են միջավայրի այնպիսի գործոնների կարեւորությունը, ինչպիսիք են չափաբաժինների ծավալի կրճատումը, սննդի գրավչության եւ խանութներում դրա մատչելիության նվազեցումը: Այդ ամենը շատ մարդկանց կարող է օգնել նվազեցնել շատակերության ռիսկը», - ասվում է տվյալ հետազոտությանը վերաբերող հաշվետվության մեջ:
