Ծաղկազարդը գարնանային բացօթյա տոնախմբությունների սկիզբն ազդարարող եկեղեցական և ժողովրդական տոն է, որին հաջորդում է «Ավագ շաբաթը»։
Ծաղկազարդի օրը հայոց եկեղեցիները զարդարվում են ուռենու ճյուղերով, առավոտյան կատարվում է ժամերգություն և «Անդաստանի կարգ», որից հետո օրհնված ճյուղերը բաժանվում են հավատացյալ ժողովրդին, որոնք պահվում են մինչև հաջորդ ծաղկազարդ։
Օծված ուռենու հետ մարդիկ օգնություն են ստանում, քանի որ աղոթքի տեքստը խնդրանք է առ Աստված: Ուռենու ոստերը, որոնք օծվել են ծիսակատարության ժամանակ, բերում են տուն՝ դնելու ծաղկամանի մեջ կամ ամրացնելու տանն առկա փոքրիկ արձանիկների, խաչերի ու սրբապատկերների վրա։

Անցյալ տարվա ճյուղերն այրում են Ծաղկազարդի կիրակիից առաջ՝ մոխիրը տանելով մի տեղ, որտեղ ոչ ոք չի քայլում։
Մոխիրը կարելի է լցնել գետը (բայց ոչ լճացած ջրի մեջ): Իսկ եթե արմատացած ուռենու ճյուղերը տնկվեք պրիմինգի մեջ, ապա առատ ջրելու դեպքում դրանք արագ կաճեն և տանը հաջողություն կբերեն։
