Սահմանադրական դատարանի դատավոր Արայիկ Թունյանը հրաժարականի դիմում է ներկայացրել։ Ազգային ժողովի նախագահ Ալեն Սիմոնյանն է այդ մասին հայտարարություն տարածել, նշել, որ Ազգային ժողովի կանոնակարգ օրենքի համաձայն հայտարարում է Թունյանի հրաժարականի մասին, ընդ որում Թունյանը դիմումը ներկայացրել է դեկտեմբերի 26-ին։ Հրաժարականի պահանջների մասին ո՛չ Սահմանադրական դատարանի դատավորը, ո՛չ Ազգային ժողովի նախագահը բնականաբար չեն նշել։

Մեր աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ՝ Թունյանին պարզապես պարտադրել են հրաժարական տալ, քանի որ գործող իշխանություններն առանձնապես չեն վստահում նրան։ Թունյանը 2005-2007 թվականներին Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի օրոք եղել է նախագահի աշխատակազմի պետաիրավական վարչության պետ, իսկ 2007-2014 թվականներին նախագահի աշխատակազմի իրավաբանական վարչության պետ։ Ազգային ժողովի որոշմամբ՝ Սահմանադրական դատարանի անդամ է նշանակվել 2014 թվականի հունիսին։ Իշխանափոխությունից հետո Արայիկ Թունյանին մի քանի անգամ փորձել են պաշտոնանկ անել, սակայն գործող իշխանությունները չեն հաջողել։

Հիշեցնենք՝ նրանք միայն իրենց ճնշումներով կարողացան ՍԴ նախագահի պաշտոնից ազատել Հրայր Թովմասյանին և ևս երեք դատավորների հեռացնել Սահմանադրական դատարանից։ Գործող իշխանությունները ՍԴ-ում այլևս իրենց կողմնակիցներով մեծամասնություն ունեն, սակայն չեն դադարում Սահմանադրական դատարանը զավթելու իրենց գործողություններն իրականացնել, ուստի և փորձելու են առաջիկայում ազատվել նաև ոչ ցանկալի մյուս դատավորներից։ Արայիկ Թունյանը նրանցից առաջինն էր և թերևս ամենաթույլը, որին հաջողվել է հեռացնել։ Հրայր Թովմասյանն օրինակ, բացարձակ մտադիր չէ հրաժարական ներկայացնել, ընդհակառակը ժամանակին հայտարարել էր, թե ինքն էլ իր խրամատն է պահում Սահմանադրական դատարանում։
